If Jimmy Carter and Al Gore joined the race in the Iowa primary with....
Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Dodd, Clark, Kerry, Vilsack, and the rest, who would you vote for? Yes, I included Jimmy Carter. Do you think he is too old? The people in Iowa would not write him off.

1. Carter is what, 81 now?
Don't get me wrong, I have an enormous amount of respect for former President Carter. He is one of the most honorable men in this country. I like him very much.

But yes, Carter is too old now.

I don't think Gore is going to run. I'd like him to, but I don't think he will.

Of the remainder of that list, my choice is Edwards.

7. Does anyone remember the 20% interest rates that
ruined many a small business under Carter? I was one of them.

12. You should thank him
That was the FED, not Carter, and Greenspan's use of the prime , as painful as it was, eliminated an inflation that was threatening the entire country. You would be paying $75
for a loaf ofbread and $ 200 a gallon for gas were it not for Greenspan's plan.

He went to Carter, who knew this would doom his presidency, but acting in the best interests of the future generations of Americans, gave him the green light.

Hell yes that was painful. I had to shut my doors for six months as well.
But we missed out on food riots, mass deaths, and destruction that would have accomanied the inflation that was looming.

2. I too would like
Al to run, but he seems not to want to....so Edwards is also my guy.

HRC? No way. The rethugs would eat her alive and her past WAFFLING aka lieberlite, if they made mincemeat out of Kerry by being a flip flopper, just think what they would do to her. AND she is NOT presidential material, imho, at all. She, from what I hear, is a fabulous Senator and if that's the case, she should just stay where she is at and affect change from that level.

4. Well, I don't like it, but this likely will be Hillary's to lose....
simply put, the nomination is about who brings money into the party, and that is it.

The Clintons still bring in the most $ to the party, and as such, many in the party owe them favors and will back her (just like Bush in 2000 wiht the REpubs). Also, must people voting in the primaries are NOT posting on DU, so they like the rock star power of Hillary.

Sad but true.

5. Gore
Not just because it would be karmatic (is that a word?) after having it stolen from him but because he seems to me to be truly both intelligent and compassionate. If a write in candidate could win, I'd write him in and draft him.

8. Clark over any of them
Carter and Gore are great Democrats, but Wes Clark is who the country needs at this point in history.

9. Gore is my sentimental favorite...
but I don't think he's going to run, especiall with HRC now launching her ego-trip.

I like Barak Obama and could listen to this man speak for hours, but I worry about his expereince and the crap that the Pukes will use to destroy him.

I really like Wes Clark, but I think he's waiting too long to make his plans known. Despite 2004, he doesn't have the smae level of recognition that many of the others have. If he doesn't get moving soon, he wont get any traction.

So, at his point, barring a surprise from Gore, I think I'm leaning towards Edwards.
