There are many reasons why neither should be elected at this point and I hope that we would not grasp the easiest excuse.

I am not enamored with Hillary, but I am impressed with Bill Richardson. He would be my first choice, then edwards, then Obama. I am convinced that Gore will not run.

and Jessee Jackson ran in 1988. And, of course, Geraldine Ferraro ran in 1984.

The difference, of course, is that Clinton and Obama are a lot more credible candidates than either.

Wanted to add about Richardson. He, too, looks great on paper but he also has demonstrated his capabilities and he is articulate.

He is a governor from a Southwestern state, with track record in foreign affairs. I don't know much about him, at this point I am still loyal to Edwards, but am open to listen to what he has to say.

Jesse was never a serious candidate. In Chicago, the Feds cut a deal with him that kept him out of jail for massive fraud. PUSH Excel was created as a result. Jesse used strong arm tactics, drug dealing gangs for physical "convincing" and probably did not file tax returns for 15 years runnning.

You're right - there are all kinds of reasons that people don't win. It would be a damned shame if race or gender are used as the excuse for a loss - especially since this would be used as a reason to keep minorities and women from running in the future.
