I'm looking forward to Feb 3, 2004 S Carolina primary.
It will be nice to find out who the winner is in South Carolina, and we only have to wait 5 weeks.

"Dean was at 16 percent in the poll released Monday by the American Research Group of Manchester, N.H. Wesley Clark (news - web sites ) and Al Sharpton were at 12 percent and North Carolina Sen. John Edwards was at 11 percent. While Dean appears to have a slight lead, the poll suggests the race is wide open.

Edwards had a slight lead in a Pew Research Center poll in November."
-------------------------

Wesley Clark and John Edwards may each be more electable than Dean in the general election, but if Dean wins South Carolina, then it isn't clear how Clark or Edwards can win the nomination.

1. It's hard to call a candidate more 'electable' if he is unable to
to win an election...

3. Ron Brownstein with John King on CNN just said that in Iowa,

the order is Dean, Gep, and Kerry with 5 points between each of the...

so Dean is 5 ahead of Gep, 10 ahead of Kerry. I was surprised it was only 5 ahead of Gep...

(It was a rerun of Lou Dobbs...King was subbing)

4. Look, if Dean wins, he wins.
I'm sure all of us have backed a candidate who lost an election or a primary. It goes with the territory.

I actually don't expect Clark to drop out until Dean has won enough committed delegates to take the nomination on the first ballot. If that doesn't happen you'll see Wes in the convention and then we'll see who votes for whom.

It does make a difference to me who represents us in November but I can support Dean with a clear conscience, if that is what things come to.

We'll know pretty soon how its going to play out.
