A Rumor Is A Rumor Is A Rumor…

…until it is either proven or disproven.

Now, I know that there will be a segment of the readership that will automatically discount this considering the source, but keep in mind that this very topic has been discussed on the comment threads here and elsewhere. I will also point out that this same site predicted (correctly) Rumsfeld's resignation. So with that in mind, consider the following…
http://ccinsider.comedycentral.com/cc_insider/absurd_political_predictions_that_do_not_belong_here/index.html
Comedy Central Insider:

The CC Insider/InDecider has just heard more rumors (see earlier posts) from a SECOND reliable source that Dick Cheney will be stepping down as Vice President and will be replaced as Vice President by Condoleezza Rice. And now we're hearing that she would like to be on the ticket as the GOP VP candidate in '08.

According to our rumor-meister, John Negroponte will be filling Condi's current position as Secretary of State. Negroponte is currently the Director of National Intelligence (the first person ever to hold the few-years-old position) and the former US Ambassador to Iraq.

Laugh now, but remember where you heard it first.

1. It certainly explains the very fishy "demotion" of Negroponte
Does anyone know if this move would allow Death Squad John to avoid a Senate confirmation before taking over State?

2. If this rumor is borne out as fact, then it will be entirely clear
indeed that Bush selects vice presidents on their propensity for scowling.

6. Hi, illinoisprogressive. I have to admit I am a little worried
about Condiliar as vice president.

The woman exudes anger from every pore, doesn't she? A scowling, disapproving, volcanic mess of a person.

Nice shoes, though.

16. Here's to hoping we don't wake up in a month or so to Condiliar
as our vice president.

7. Actually to preempt both him and Penguin from losing seats if Impeached they would now have to also
Impeach Rice! To keep Pelosi from Ascending to the Presidency!

11. I wonder what would happen if Cheney did resign -- say, when the
Scooter jury is about to return from its deliberations -- and Dubya appoints Condiliar.

But the Senate balks at confirmation. Hearings are extended. She has few friends on the foreign relations committee, that we know. Democrats at last have a majority vote in the Senate, though barely. Hearings drag on. And on. Condiliar is brought low by leaks from who-knows-where about her negligence on 9-11. As well, damaging testimony is entered into the record about her unethical conduct during the uprising in Lebanon last year.

After heated disputation, the Senate defeats her nomination. Hagel joins Democrats in the vote. Maybe Snowe or Collins, too.

Who does Dubya nominate next? At this point, Nancy Pelosi is only 1 promotion away from the top job.

I fear Bush would nominate Lieberman. Who would be replaced in Connecticut by a Rethug, throwing the Senate to the GOP.

17. But Condi Is In Just As Much Danger
of being impeached. She in this up to that scowl of hers. If they were really smart, they would put someone who wasn't involved in the whole sordid affair as number 2 so that when Bush is finally impeached they would hold on to power. But they have already proven that although they are evil they aren't smart.

his position and went to state. Cheney is said to be ill.

5. I can see this coming to pass. It's not a terribly exotic thing.
Of course she will be feted by the Republicans as the first black, first woman vice president. In my view, she neither represents blacks nor women and is merely a corrupted, power-hungry organism who happens to have brown skin and ovaries.

12. Well, she did a bang up job as NatSecurity Advisor and SecState...
by Bush standards, she's certainly in line for a promotion. Not really much of a gene pool to select from in this administration, is there? The same people sure do seem to get recycled with regularity. I wonder if Laura will have veto power on this one?

someone should dig up that old photo of condi in the high black boots and black suit she wore in Europe a few years back. Very SS looking, that and her evil stare at the SOTU and she is every Presidential candidates worst nightmare for a running mate.

20. California, I think
I don't think she'd run for president (like Laura said, she can't run because she doesn't have a husband). But, I can see the party putting her up as a replacement for Cheney so they can accuse any Democrats who oppose her of racism and sexism.
