Lurking Freepers: If winning the war is so important, why hasn't Bush tried to win it?

I'm honesty curious about the logic behind this.

Listening to the right wing people, if we don't 'win' in Iraq, America is in trouble for decades to come. Al Qaeda will have an oil-rich nation to themselves to headquarters and train terrorists for attacks on America, Iran will dominate the region, etc. Mushroom clouds over America, people, mushroom clouds over America.

Then why didn't Bush and Company win the war in the first place? Why have they instituted policies and appointed people that virtually guaranteed failure?

And why won't BushCo seek to correct the failures? Why won't he say "We need a half-million troops in Iraq, so I'm asking Congress to reinstitute the draft"?

And why do you keep supporting a discredited President and discredited policy? Especially since, for all reasonable national security reasons, the war was won the day before we invaded Iraq?

Bush didn't accomplish any mission. He de-accomplished it!

it's just progressing like all his previous business ventures.

"An Iraq that can govern itself, defend itself, and sustain itself." :eyes:

Pretty vague and open-ended huh? :shrug:

What is winning? For all conditions of victory I can remember BushCo talking about, they were in place BEFORE we invaded!

Now we have, due to the invasion:

a) A religious government in Iraq, with laws based in Islamic law
b) An Iraqi government friendly to and allied religiously with Iran
c) Millions of individual Iraqis who hate us for invading them, ruining their lives, and killing their family members
d) A combination breeding ground, recruiting zone, and testing/training area for Al Qaeda
e) An Islamic faith that has very good reason to believe that our devoutly fundamentalist President thinks Muslims are subhuman and in need of conversion or death
f) A global community that sees us as relentless and ruthless conquerers for oil
g) Iran emerging as a regional power, now that it's traditional rival, Iraq, is down and out
h) Other countries, terrified of an invasion, pursuing nuclear weapons
i) Instability in the region as other nations worry about a militarily powerful Iran.
j) Iraq teetering on the edge of all-out civil war and threatening to fracture into three pieces.
