7. Of course we all our entitled to our views, but let me ask you about her recent comment
Edited on Mon Jan-29-07 09:49 PM by still_one
She indicated that the bush administration had better clean up the Iraq mess before he leaves office

My question is, why shouldn't the Senate REPEAL the IWR, reinstate the war powers act, and in 60 days have the Iraq issue brought before them for review, where they can either declare war, or get us out

This war did NOT happen in a vacuum, and because of the neglect of Congress they shifted their responsibility to the executive branch. If they were doing their job they would take that responsibility back

1. Saddam is gone
2. There are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq
3. Iraq has an elected government

What is the definition of winning in Iraq, and why doesn't anyone comment on it?

Incidently, it doesn't matter whether we have the votes to reverse the IWR or not, it is important that this statement be made.

The 2006 election told Congress in no uncertain terms to do something about it. If they don't try, then they are part of the problem

16. Dean was 30 points ahead in NH in Dec 2003
http://zogby.com/Soundbites/ReadClips.dbm?ID=6437

Howard Dean has opened a daunting lead in the Democratic presidential contest in New Hampshire, says a poll released Wednesday night.

Dean was at 42 percent, 30 points ahead of his closest rival, John Kerry, in the Zogby poll of voters who say they're likely to vote in the Jan. 27 primary. One in five, 19 percent, were undecided.

Dean had a lead of more than 20 points in several other recent polls, including a Zogby poll in October.

Kerry, a Massachusetts senator who led in the state early this year, was at 12 percent; retired Gen. Wesley Clark was at 9 percent and Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman was at 7 percent.

17. So? I never said these were predictive of a final outcome...
Sometimes they are, sometimes they are not...just shows where we are now...

2. The impression that Iowa or New Hampshire represent the trend of the country is B.S.
The media will hype it up, but in my view they are hardly representative of the whole country. Unfortunately, the inane media hypes their credibility up more than it deserves

8. I like meaningless polls.

look, this one is basically all a matter of name recognition; you would
have to go to mongolia to find someone that hasn't heard of hillary, edwards
was on the last national ticket, and obama has gotten media exposure to die
for over the past few months.

recognize it for what it is, but also recognize it for what it could lead to.

(edit for grammar)

11. Funny how the only meaningless polls are the ones with Hillary at the top
However, post any polls that show her in anything but first place and a collective DU orgasm ensues!

4. I hope the republicans choose the candidate who dresses in drag.
That would be the best choice they can make...If the policies are bad, he may as well be entertaining. :)

5. McCain is sinking fast because he's tied with Rudy?
I don't think he'll be the nominee, but to say he's sinking fast defies reality.

9. Prediction: When the dust settles, it'll be
Obama/Clark vs Romney/and Some other Asshole, followed by an Obama/Clark victory in the general election.

Sorry, Elmer, Hillary would make a fine president, but I think Obama will be stealing the show soon.

14. Not out of the realm of possibility...
Though I think that is the less likely scenario...I think Clinton/Clark is more likely

I wouldn't think twice about supporting an Obama/Clark ticket if thats the way the party decides to go though.

I've always said Obama would be President someday, I just don't think it will be this cycle, and I have always been impressed with Clark...particularly his grasp of the issues, but also his maturity in recognizing and acknowledging the strong points in arguments for policies he opposes...he has a knack for being able to take the opposite position from fellow Democrats, without making it personal or denigrating the person taking that opposite position...

10. First NH Dem presidential debates are scheduled 64 days from now
Link here http://newhampshire08.com/ look at the top right margin

Let's take a poll after the debate;that's the poll I want to see
I'll go out on a strong limb and say the debate will be critical for all who have thus far announced because you never get a second chance to make a first impression

Expectations game is huge for that event

So the first debate in NH will be widely watched and then debates not really focused on until closer till the election (NH primary)

Top 3 will be under intense microscope and the rest should realize what a benefit this early debate is to them

18. I want McCain to beat Giuliani
Something tells that Giuliani might win at least 2 Northeastern states, with his handful of liberal social positions.

Plus McCain has been more proactive in continuing the disaster that is the Iraq war.
