Help: Was a tax hike approved this past Saturday?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I can't find this anywhere online and I haven't seen the TV news in a while.

A Freeper acquaintance was freaking out, saying that he saw on Fox (no surprise there) Saturday that the new Congress approved an across-the-board tax hike.

I couldn't find reference to this anywhere. Did something big happen that I missed? I know they were discussing tax increases on those in the upper income, but this is supposedly across the board.

Anyone know what this person is talking about? I wouldn't be surprised if it was just more Faux News crap being spewed in a way that those inclined to hear what they want to hear think something like this happened when it didn't.
