3. Can't wait to get Gore's book. From the review, it sounds like
concepts that hubby and I talk about all the time.

Al--are you testing the water?

4. Someone's already posted a comment.
Someone has already posted a comment on it, even though the book hasn't even been released. What's ironic is that it's a perfect example of an assault on reason.

I was astounded to read about Al Gore's new book in PW. The title: The Assault on Reason: How Our Democracy Has Been Damaged and How It Can Be Healed is so preposterous in its presumed backhanding of conservatives that I can only liken it to a fanciful book entitled, Kim IL Sung: How to Defend Freedom of the Press. Now I can understand how fanciful the war on Iraq must look from the perspective of the liberal mind set, how damaging to our children's minds the teaching of Intelligent Design must seem, how thoughtless the conservative desire not to provide abortion and condoms on demand but Al Gore simply strains credulity with this title. When you have public schools that are virtual prisons with thousands of students randomly beaten every year, 18,000 murders a year on US soil (there have only been 3,000 + US causalities in Iraq in four years), a vast swath of the population addicted to drugs of all kinds, a third of the population born out of wedlock and rape and pornography rampant, one would hardly look to the conservative doorstep to lay blame for these afflictions. I think if any party can be accused of failing to take into account the consequences of its "rationality" it is the Democratic Party but then again, it depends on what you mean by is. A more thoughtful title for Al Gore's Book might have been: How Our Democracy Has been Damaged by the Brain Dead Members of the Left and Right and How We Can Fix It.

Somehow I think this is a canned response that's going to pop up all over the net. He was "Astounded"? Give me a break. He apparently "astounds" easily.

11. It doesn't have to be Amazon.com
Amazon is well known for having zero-tolerance of unions in their workforce.

And some people here on DU are concerned about Amazon's treatment of Jimmy Carter's latest book on the middle east. Apparently they gave prominence to a negative review (not sure if I would call it censorship exactly, more like evidence of pro-Israel bias - which let's face it - is not exactly rare in American politics and business - "just sayin'").

The most ethical way to buy books is from local independent bookstores.

I am optimistic that Al Gore's book will be a huge hit when it comes out.

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :)

Read Rolling Stone magazine: WHY GORE SHOULD RUN -- AND HOW HE CAN WIN

Get ready for Al Gore's next book - The Assault on Reason - out in May!

13. If Gore was smart (which he is)
He will stay back as long as possible and let the media and the other candidates (and the blogs) blow each other up. He will not suffer any lack of exposure because he will have the Academy Awards and the book hype to carry him for months and keep him in the public eye. When the time is ready, the New Al swoops in and rolls over everyone like a Juggernaut. (fingers crossed, pray, pray ,pray - Run, Al, Run!!!!)

And of course we will have the added advantage of the points of his book being discussed. I have a pretty good feeling that it will be hard to be against "Reason".
