How dare George Bush presume to comment on the death of Molly Ivins?
I heard on the local news here that he had issued a statement. How dare he!

Would you rather he ignored her? When Nixon died, Clinton spoke at the service.

2. He despised while she lived, and she him
Any statement he might make at this time would be either insincere, or improper.

3. Considering the relationship
Given that they loathed each other with a passion, it's inappropriate.

4. OF course he loathed her.
After all she wrote "Shrub.'Not very nice commentary about Georgie boy. Which Democratic Congressman 's death did the family request Cheney to stay away? Maybe it was Tip O'Neill 5-6 years ago.

Although, re-reading Shrub (complete coincidence that I happen to be reading it as Molly dies), I'm actual surprised by how much Molly gives him the benefit of the doubt.

25. The request that Cheney stay away was, IIRC,
made for Paul Wellstone's memorial service.

It proves that he is aware of her and maybe some of her barbs landed home. I'm really surprized that he didn't ignore her death like the death of 3,0000+ service people.

Probably celebrating instead reading his Bible.

I imagine he sees himself lucky to be rid of those pesky REAL Texas women. I am proud to be a native Texas woman today, even tho I now consider myself a New Englander.

has a right to be livid. :grr: :(

20. I doubt if he'll attend her funeral,
but they go back a long way. I think she was the one that coined "Shrub" as his nickname. They didn't like each other, but I think it's appropriate he comment on her death. p.s. at your avatar!

22. If more people listened to Molly well before 2000,
B**h would never have become president. She exposed him for the arrogant stupid POS that he is a long time ago. Too bad not enough people took notice.

31. the post reflects my immediate response
to learning he commented. i still feel it . . . how dare he! he does not know his place, which is in a handbasket on the way to hell. but his day will come whether he recognizes it or not and that is where he will be. part of my anger i am sure has to do with losing her marvelous voice.
