I just noticed this about George W. Bush...
from his wikipedia site ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_w_bush
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/playoffs/2004-10-04-wild-card-cover_x.htm

Bush was the only Major League Baseball owner to vote against a realignment and extended format in 1994, which most notably expanded the playoffs to include more teams through the "wildcard" format, saying: "I made my arguments and went down in flames. History will prove me right. This is an exercise in folly."<32> However, while Bush would leave baseball, within ten years the wildcard expansion was seen as "almost universally accepted and good for business" by those in baseball, fans and media.

I have this "wild" theory I'd like to share with you: George W Bush thinks he has great insight because he has been successful in business and politics. What he doesn't realize is that the only reason he has succeeded is because he has powerful family and friends out there in the shadows propping him up (see Arubsto, Texas Rangers, race for Governor, race for President, etc, etc). This partly explains the failures of Iraq. The Middle East is so effed up, there is no way Bush's inner circle can intervene and fix it. They can't do what they've always done - fix George's mistakes. That's also why Dubya is so stubborn, because he used to be able to insist on things and get his way.

Add in some neo-con war mongering, some Conservative-style nepotism, cronyism, and incompetence, some religious right evangelizing and you get Iraq. I'm almost tempted to believe we could have pulled off the democratization of Iraq were it not for the idiocy of this administration. Almost...

1. The Peter Principle Personified.........
maybe we shouldn't be blaming * for this mess. Maybe our blame should be placed on all those who have bailed * out in the past.

It would sure be great if some MSM news reporter - told this story about *'s actions related to MLB.

From *'s mouth to your ears: "I made my arguments and went down in flames. History will prove me right. This is an exercise in folly."

2. LOL! Shorter you: Bush was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.
His poppy has a reason to cry. He kept his boy afloat so long, he finally elevated him to a position where he can't control him; he made him more powerful than himself.

A confidence man, but why so beleaguered?
He's not a leader, he's a Texas leaguer
Swinging for the fence, got lucky with a strike
Drilling for fear, makes the job simple
Born on third, thinks he got a triple

7. Actually it was Jim Hightower at the 1988 Dem Convention.
Ann Richards' famous line at the same convention was "Poor George. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth." (Which I remember watching. It was an instant hit.)

Man, those Texan Dems are good with the one-liners.

6. "Bush on the Couch"
Have you read that book? One of the psychiatrist's major insights is Bush's faith that he will be magically saved in the end. Why? Because he always has, as you say, by his rich and powerful family and friends. He has no reason, no logic, only baseless belief and "faith". He is absolutely delusional.
