Global Warming thingy
Ok, I know we have an infinite amount of threads on this topic-probably the biggest topic of our generation-but, I am feeling particularly bummed right now, like, I just came from a poly-sci class where the prof spent the last 10 minutes off topic about Pluralism and Corporatism and went on about global warming, sort of to coincide with the whole thing going on in Paris right now.

Are we really screwed? I mean, is there nothing humanity can do right now? Is a phase of extinction coming no matter what in the next 100 years or so?

I am so disgusted with the people, the media, most of all, mainstream media which is the biggest spreader of disinformation; who are still debating about whether global warming is a fact or a myth. I cant understand why scientists would be 'making' this up, y'know? Massive ignorance and stupidity is widely prevailing...what is wrong with people?

1. I haven't figured it out, either.
But the latest bit that left me wondering what the hell is wrong with people is the news that the conservative think tanks are offering money to anyone who will refute the "theory" that humans are causing global warming.

I think it must be something in the water..........

2. What is wrong with people?
Well, some are greedy. Some are just stupid. Some don't want to change. Some are afraid, and in denial.

We can try... I don't know if we will succeed, but it's worth trying.

3. No, we are not screwed
Yes, Global Warming will happen and its effects will be expensive.

Poor people, who had nothing to do with the cause, will suffer the most.

Rich people, who caused the problem, will adapt.

Life, unfair as always, will go on.

4. A professor in one of my classes is a research scientist studying the long term effects on humanity
He says that it will most likely mean a radical departure from the way things are done today, not the extermination of human life. By his estimate, in about 1000 years or so, the planet, oceans, etc will begin to reabsorb the carbon being dumped into the atmosphere. Humans will be forced into a hydrogen based economy rather than the oil economy we now have. He estimates that within 15 years we will be forced to live closer to work, not go where we want, when we want as we do now. Most likely there will be mass migrations of people about the planet. There have been times in the past where the co2 has gone up radically, warming the planet, the big difference this time is that we are essentially dumping a couple billion years worth of stored carbon into the atmosphere in a geological instant. Finally it will reach a point where it is undeniable so these suicidally greedy idiots running things can pull their heads out of their asses.

5. yeah
there's part of me that thinks once the effects of global warming become more transparent, visible and every-day, people, in their anger will take whatever global warming skeptics are still living and shoot them execution style...

6. Take action - and it won't be too late
We each need to take responsibility - talk to your family, friends, neighbors - try to frame the problem on terms that will appeal to them. We do have hope. We fixed the hole in the stratospheric atmosphere - we can take this challenge on.

Without hope why continue on waking up every morning.
