Poll: Both Hillary and Clark would stomp Huckabee in Arkansas...
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 06:31 PM by SaveElmer
By about the same margin

51-36 for Hillary

51-37 for Clark

Who said Hillary couldn't play in Red States?

1. C'mon now Elmer. Its AR for Clinton is similar to IA for Vilsack
The only way she "wins" is if she takes it handily.

Though it is nice to see a local GOP boy get stomped by other locals.

3. I don't think you see the point. It's a general election match-up, not a primary
and Arkansas hasn't gone Democratic since 1996, so that would be six (6) more electoral votes than we had in 2004 and 2000.

6. And in the mean time, she would lose a few states that Kerry won
WI, PA and MI are possibilities.

12. Any polling data to back that up?
I haven't seen any...

I think she will win all three (in fact I think any Democrat running except Kucinich would win all three)

21. Poll? Just take a look around here.. you are pretty much her only supporter!

With a handful -- make that "small handful" ---- of supporters that is.

By mid-March you're going to have to change your name to "SaveHillary"

22. Well I have to say...
The fact that Hillary is not the favorite on DU is a comfort to me...

DU conventional wisdom has all the accuracy of a Dick Morris prediction...

So I will keep on keepin on...

14. how do you know?
at least this person has a poll to back up his contention--you? I live in Wisconsin and I think she could win the state. (And I'm not supporting Hillary for the nomination). I don't think someone can take a red state like Arkansas and then lose alot of blue states.

5. Not the same...
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 06:41 PM by SaveElmer
Clinton would beat the recent supposedly popular Republican Governor of that state...

Hillary and Vilsack are both Democrats

Means in Arkansas not only is she supported by Democrats but Independents as well...

Folks ask what Red states would Hillary flip...well two recent polls show her flipping Ohio and Arkansas...

17. Here's the interesting thing...
Both Clinton and Huckabee had 98 percent name recognition, to Clark's 63 percent.

So Clark equaled Clinton's showing with only 2/3 rds of her name recognition at the time.

Kinda makes the case against Hillary and FOR Clark, doesn't it.... heh

18. Not really...
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 06:54 PM by SaveElmer
Clark's negatives would inevitably go up as he takes hard positions, with Republicans driving them up. Hillary's could probably drop assuming a well run campaign. Simply means all Republicans already hate Hillary...unsurprising. Most of those will probably come to hate Clark as well. My guess is Independents will shake out about the same for either candidate...

20. Supposition is not a strategy
We'll see how it pans out. After all not everyone in Arkansas worked for the Clinton Whitehouse.

24. If anything it makes the case AGAINST Huckabee
But the fact that both of them could carry a southern state according to this poll is helpful.

2. That is impressive, I have to admit.
I wish they had also included Obama and Edwards. Of course Clark is from Arkansas and Clinton was its first lady for many years, but still Huckabee was a pretty popular governor too.

Considering the presence of her and Bill. HOWEVER, I still contend that AR would be an anomaly.

25. Suburban redneck housewives are...
chomping at the bit to vote for a woman, north or south. The hardcore righties that I work with are appalled at the fact that their wives want to vote for Hillary. She is not my first choice, but please don't tell my wife. As far as Huckabee is concerned, he looks like a great neighbor, but a terrible president. We have a fake Fundie in the WH now, I don't want to find out what the southern Governor real deal will be like. Scary I know.

27. Dunno bout that
"redneck" women crack. Sitting at a meeting at the State Party not too long ago, not a single woman was 'for' Hillary. Just one union guy.

Maybe Hill needs to rethink her 'constituency'.
