DES MOINES, Iowa -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney conceded that the
war in Iraq has been poorly managed and may hurt Republicans again next year,
but he refused to oppose the course President Bush has charted.
Romney, who was meeting with activists across central Iowa, told The Associated
Press Thursday that his support for Bush will not hurt his chances of winning the
GOP presidential nomination.

team," he said. "We have to a certain degree created the difficulty that we are in."
While polls have shown an overwhelming majority of Americans oppose Bush's efforts
to expand the troop levels in Iraq, Romney said he's willing to give it a chance.
