William Donahue compares interracial marriage to bestiality, polygamy and incest
"If love is the sole basis for marriage, then what gives society the right to deny a marriage license to Fred and Fido? Or, for that matter, to Sam and Sally, a brother-sister couple who – like in the movie 'The Dreamers' – love each other in a way most people find unnatural? Surely it is irrational to forbid incest! After all, we once made it illegal for whites to marry blacks, didn't we? So isn't it the same to deny Fred and Fido; Tom, Dick and Harry; and Sam and Sally? Wouldn't it be intolerant to say no to this happy trio of lovers? Isn't this what makes America great – equal rights for those who commit bestiality, polygamy, sodomy and incest?

3. It is especially unhealthy to lead a group which claims to be fighting bigotry...
with so much hatred. It is sad that our media allows this man to go on the air and attack others for being bigots, and it is even more sad that they do not even call him on statements like this.

Unfortunately, it's also too slow.

Actually, I think it will be perfectly fine for Fred to marry Fido (or Elsie or Ferdinand, or Porky or whatever) as soon as Fido can agree either verbally or in writing to the marriage contract.

Why do right wing religious nuts all have such a problem understanding the term "consenting adults?" Have they gone their whole lives without obtaining consent from anyone?

8. sorry to pop your trial balloon here, but his meaning is pretty clear.
He's not even close to putting bestiality into the same category as interracial marriage. He was ridiculing the people who favor gay marriage and he's clearly an asshole. But he's obviously using interracial marriage as an example of a good and natural progress.

I might be slightly more willing to listen to the thoughts of Bishop Di Marzio, and by extension, Mr. Donohue of the Catholic League. Hate-filled hypocrites. What happened to "Love thy neighbor"? These guys are kissin' cousins of the Taliban. The same inexorable rigidity, the same fears, the same hate.
