If a democrat was running this country....

and doing what bush and his minions are doing, what would be going on?

I'd like to think that because of our focus on reason and the lack of an authoritarian streak, no Democrat WOULD do what BushCo has been doing.

had, the Repubs would have impeached him long ago. He would be a distant memory by now, assuming they had a majority in congress. Repubs don't hesitate to investigate and prosecute Democrats, witness Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. Repubs are very litiigious and don't tolerate any malfeasance in office by their opponents. On the other hand, they consider themselves above the law and immune to prosecution, and the Democrats unfortunately foster this belief by their hesitancy to impeach them. There was much evidence in 1987 that the Reaqan administration was criminally liable in the Iran-contra affair, but Democrats in congress chose to do nothing, to their great misfortune.

Democrats would not behave the way say Sen Pat Roberts did as chair of the intelligence committee, covering up every violation and deception of BushCo. Nor would they be passing resolutions to change the law everytime the President broke one. Nor would they be blocking resolutions about the Iraq war just to protect thier president.

I am ready for the Republicans to WAKE UP and stop protecting Bushco. Think I will be waiting a long time.
