3. It's very beautiful but
its also apparent how poluted the air is there. From the coal burning plants no doubt. The air is similar to poluted areas in the Appalachians.

and as their economy grows so will pollution. I just hope they will understand the effects before they see them.

9. i had the same reaction when i saw them
my folks visited China about 20 years ago. They came home with all sorts of respiratory problems. The air pollution is horrible from all the coal they burn.

on a political note, i've seen some people who are opposed to CO2 emissions caps actually use China as an argument. They say, foolishly, why should the US have any restrictions if the Chinese will just keep polluting? I believe the appropriate cliche for that type of reasoning is "two wrongs don't make a right" ...

I would love to travel to China. I am planning a trip to Japan the summer after next. I hope my pictures are half as good as yours! What camera did you use?

5. heh ...
well, i hate to tell you that, had i taken those pictures, you'd be seeing lots of views of my thumbs and my feet.

i did NOT take the photos. i just found them on the web and thought they were remarkable.

7. I used really be into photography
But, I have an aged camera--completely manual and I want to upgrade to digital. But, I don't know which one. My daughter has a completely automatic digital, that takes very good pictures of thumbs and 1/2 faces!
