dock their salaries and perks!!
I hereby propose that we the people start demanding the return of the salaries of those who are blatantly obstructing and wasting the time of the congress. if they are not doing the job for which they were sent, and are preventing other members from so doing, their salaries need to be docked, and their perks rescinded.

1. i so agree, but
how do we do it? they completely ignore us. they're completely out of control. and an election once every two to six years is just not cutting it.

4. not that they would ever pass it, but--perhaps something along the lines of sending them the bills
every week of how much they owe us, and posting the amounts in whatever passes for an independent publication in one's area?

our local rag is completely reichwing, but we do have an alternative paper. any accountants care to figure out how much they owe us back (and just for fun, how about totally up how much the republican-controlled congress of the clinton years owes us for whitewater and monica? not to mention the 6 years of the rubber-stamp congress?)

2. A nice idea, but they have to vote it through...
How many 'no show' votes equate to 'yes, pass it anyway'? :D
