Clinton urges start of Iraq pullout in 90 days
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the early front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, has called for a 90-day deadline to start pulling American troops from Iraq.

Clinton, the wife of former President Bill Clinton, has been criticized by some Democrats for supporting authorization of the war in 2002 and for not renouncing her vote as she seeks the U.S. presidency in next year's election.

"Now it's time to say the redeployment should start in 90 days or the Congress will revoke authorization for this war," the New York senator said in a video on her campaign Web site, repeating a point included in a bill she introduced on Friday.

5. Pandering, flip/flop, etc. -LOL - actually she just put into legislation an old position - still has
no deadline for total withdrawal.

I thought it amusing the hours after she goes for 90 days for re-deploy starting, Obama tops her by putting out that his legislation will call for re-deploy starting May 1.

9. Then if it's an "old position"
it's not a flip-flop, is it?

6. Let me guess
If the candidate you support does this, it's not pandering, right? :eyes:

3. Congress should revoke authorization for this war and jr would have 60 days to have all the troops
out of the theater. Now that would be a binding resolution.

4. Dem candidates need to be careful
These "We need to pull out in 3 weeks", "I'll bring troops back home next Sunday at 5am" kinda promises look empty and unrealistic...

8.  Dem candidates need to be forward looking and BOLD. The American voters
have decided the DemocratIC leaders should get on with it.

Why should we believe the predictions of the NeoConvicts who have been WRONG on every prediction so far?

10. I agree - Hillary & Obama re-deploy start dates seem OK - and Murtha is in
the Clinton bill (I have not read the actual Obama bill - just the press release).

it's nice to see that Senator 180 has finally realized she was dead in the water without the anti-war left. her position-du-jour is not leadership; it's not conscience but it is about f*%King time ...

glad to have her on board on the issue ...

11. She's supported phased redeployment for some time
It's not a "position du jour."

13. this is a new position isn't it?
she hasn't said 90 days before, has she? she didn't talk about revoking the IWR she voted for until very recently, has she?

it is indeed a "position du jour" ... it's also not leadership ... i'm glad she's finally caught on to what many in the party and in the country have been saying for some time now ... btw, how did she vote on last year's Kerry-Feingold amendment?

19. It's the right thing to do.
Like it or not, Senator Clinton has some clout. Let her exercise it now.

She's not my first (2nd or 3rd) in the primary, but I'm sure not going to characterize her position as pandering etc. It's the right thing to do regardless of who introduces this legislation.
