Poll question: To whom will the Obama/Hilary dust-up be the most detrimental?
Edited on Sat Feb-24-07 11:33 PM by Bicoastal
Been equally curious and anxious about this kerfuffle--at the very least, it might give the Republicans confidence for '08.

7. I thought Team Hillary overreacted, now I think it was a cold calculated move
to somehow bring Obama down a peg or two by pulling the well-tested Rovian tactic of making Democrats apologize for what their supporters do or say. Obama did not take the bait, and his campaign did score some points.

This is not the first time Team Hillary has pulled a Rovian stunt. They tried to do the same thing to Edwards earlier.

Remember that Carville is the one calling the shots when it comes to dirty tricks. I expect him and Begala to continue their current campaign of trying to liquidate the opposition before it gets a chance to jell.

8. I apologize for my spelling...
...that just happens to be how my sister spells HER name, so I make that mistake all the time.

3. It was just another episode of Days of Our Political Lives
... not unlike the soap opera played out here daily on DU in finding new ways to bash one candidate over another. Feh.

5. To us the Democratic party, because we are continuing talking
about this nonsense...meanwhile, deaths continue in Iraq, the President and the Vice-President continue to threaten Iran......and the Armed Services may well be preparing to rebel against the government.

So yeah....we lose!....again!

16. Now you've gotta admit
the Obama/Clinton show is running a little behind "The battle over Anna Nicole's body" and the "Will Britney Spears stay in rehab?" drama. And of course, when all that dies down, there's still "Trial of the diapered Astronaut" to look forward to.

It's like this stuff falls from a cloud right into Bush's lap.

9. I fail to see..
How Obama comes out looking bad, seeing as how he had nothing to do with Geffen making his comments. Unless you want to believe the unsupported theory of the Clinton camp that Obama got Geffen to do it. Other than that, Clinton comes off as looking worried about Obama derailing her nomination...that much is certain if nothing else is.

14. I'll tell you;
Obama may be percieved as being slightly disingenuous in refusing to distance himself from the comments in that there will likely be other comments made by others not connected to the campaign- world leaders, "terrorists", government officials, etc- that he will distance himself from. I don't think he should apologize or give the money back, but it would have been easy to say "I don't agree with the comments" or something like that.

12. Hillary because she validates the caricatures about her being,
prickly, shrill and perceiving herself to be royal and above the rest of us.

Why call Obama by his last name and Clinton by her first?

17. Because I'm really really really biased?
Or maybe because there are two Clintons involved in our country's politics, and referring to her by her first name (as almost everyone on this site does) is just a tad more convenient?

I really doubt Clinton herself minds being thought of as "Hillary"--ah, remembered the spelling this time!

15. I picked "No one - by this time next year, all will be forgotten,"
but, that's not exactly it.

It should read, "No one - because no one is paying attention save political junkies right now."

19. Obama did nothing wrong. Hillary allowed her people to completly blow it
by falsely referring to Geffen as Obama's "campaign finance chairman", when all Geffen is is one of three people who simply sponsored just one of many rundraising events in California. He is not part of Obama's campaign.

Geffen has a right to speak for himself. He wasn't speaking on behalf of anyone *but* himself. Obama owes no apologies to anyone for anything said by contributors, no matter how wealthy they are. Hillary's people had no problem with Geffen when he contributed $18 million to Bill's campaign.

If anyone should be fired, it's Hillary's campaign communications manager that made that false charge.
