Republican Senator Pete "I didn't do anything wrong." Dominici of New Mexico has hired a top defense attorney, Lee Blalack who represented Duke Cunningham (talk about bad karma)to represent him.

Washington Post - Domenici Hires Top Attorney for Ethics Investigation
<http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/03/07/AR2007030701546.html>

The Washington Post just posted this on its web page:

Sen. Pete V. Domenici (R-N.M.) has hired a top defense attorney to handle the pending ethics investigation into allegations that he pressured a federal prosecutor to bring indictments against New Mexico Democrats on the eve of the 2006 elections.

Lee Blalack, who recently represented former congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham (R-Calif.), who is now serving time in prison for bribery and other offenses, said today that he has signed on as Domenici's attorney in the wake of allegations from fired U.S. Attorney David C. Iglesias. Iglesias alleged that Domenici phoned him at his home and asked about a pending public corruption investigation.

Ain't it sweet?

Keep the pressure up!

Yep, byteb, it is sweet!

1. Pardon for asking but, did I miss something: what ethics investigation?
I know there's been a complaint but, is it actually going to be looked into and has such an announcement even been made?

3. Supposedly he called
Edited on Wed Mar-07-07 06:35 PM by durtee librul
the att'y and told him he was going to press charges (or do whatever lawyers do) and when the guy said no, Domenici told him he was sorry to hear that and hung up on the guy. The guy was then fired.

On edit: Probably for 'performance' reasons (sarcasm intended)

5. Right, I've heard that, but I haven't heard the Senate's decided a thing.
So to me it's like this attorney got hired for an investigation that at present, does not exist, and has no guarantee of ever existing.

4. Don't get your hopes up just yet
Dominici has a lot of Texas Oil buddies that will bail him out of this one.

6. If he can be destroyed politically, the seat is ours.
NM has been trending in the right direction. Certainly Heather Wilson isn't viable, and I think Richardson could walk away with it, presuming his presidential candidacy, as I expect, doesn't go anywhere.
