Dems should call on Bush to pardon Libby

Libby was only doing what Bush and Cheney wanted him to do. They are the guilty ones. That's how the Dems should ask for the pardon. "Pardon Libby Mr. Bush, and accept the blame for what you did."

2. Instead of calling for Bush not to pardon Libby, do the reverse.

Use Libby's conviction to focus blame on those who were really behind the crime: Bush and Cheney themselves. Make a big deal out of it.

5. It will actually make it harder for Bush to pardon Libby, IMO.

Make it look like an admission of Bush's own personal guilt. Bush is going to pardon Libby anyway. And it might help with the Wilson lawsuit. Just a thought.

... started an unnecessary war that cost hundreds of thousands of lives, and the hit man only really just lied to the cops and tried to hide the crime...didn't really "hit" anyone in the literal sense. Then, yes.

9. Not really. He's already framing it as mercy and loyalty.

It won't look good for him to pardon Libby either way, though, I admit. But it will look OK to Republicans.

12. Those aren't mutually exclusive.

It just looks to me like Bush is going to pardon Libby either way. Also, the GOP is already framing it the way they prepared to frame it months ago...with the conviction being for things other than the crime in exposing Wilson's wife's CIA job. I figure we should let the media soak for a while nailing Cheney and Bush. Then, call on Bush to take responsibility himself. And what better way to do it than ask him to pardon Libby. If anything, that makes it less likely Bush will pardon Libby, because the Dems will have clearly cast it as an admission of guilt on Bush's part.

Maybe.

He lied to the Grand Jury and investigators. No pardon just because others committed other crimes. Doesn't make sense.

15. Lots of reasons.

Libby could successfully appeal otherwise. A pardon would actually seal his guilt and tie Bush solidly to the crimes.
