What if Chaney resigns in the next 48 hours?
My wife was thinking of this.

Would that stop congress from looking into Plamegate?

Wouldn't the attention of the country be more on who the new VP would be?

Wouldn't that really play into the BUSHCO's hands. If they could find a guy as underhanded or more as Chaney was and slip him into that VP spot than get the Fundies and Wingers excited about him or her. That would almost basically ensure the ticket for 08.

My wife doesn't want to rain on anyone's happiness but she herself stopped celebrating the idea of Plamegate in Congress when this idea hit her.

Let's face it it is Friday and we are a few hours away from Dump time.

1. answers
No.
Yes.
No.
Your wife needs to relax.
I predict that whatever "dump" we get today, it won't include Cheney's resignation.

3. I'll raise ya
I think bush would want cheney to stay on for a more opportune time for him to resign. To take the attention off of an even greater scandal that we don't even know about yet.

Its very difficult not being cynical about these criminal bastards.

7. Not unlikely - we are at 'war.' He might use this a ground to prevent
elections in 2008.

6. Government without Dick Cheney is a pleasant thought but I'm not
convinced it's going to happen.

It could. We can build a case for it. It's perhaps more likely now than 2 years ago.

But Uncle Dick is cut from stubborn cloth.

10. even if he did resign.........
...and I don't believe he will, but if he did, whoever Bush selected would not benefit much from it.

I mean, look at the last election. People are getting sick of Bush and his BS. For instance, look at that guy Steele in Maryland. He tried to distance himself from Bush and he even made signs that looked like they belonged to a democrat! He still lost.......rightly so.

Anyone that Bush recommends would be like the kiss of death.....

12. First, if, and I do mean IF
the congress DOES investigate Plamegate, I would be pleasantly surprised. I think it would be too much work for them to undertake such a big job - what would they do - - write another non binding resolution to make it go away? "sarcasm"

Second, if we even HAVE elections in '08 I will be very pleasantly surprised. No, I am not trying to be a fubar here, but I cannot see this bunch of egotistical basturds picking up their bags and baggage and just leaving. They are a sinister bunch and it all started back when Reagan was prez (or playing prez) with Newt and Trent and the rest of the crappy crew.

I regularly wear my tinfoil hat and I think there is more to 9/11 than we will ever even WANT to know. They have become very rich off the backs of terrorism and they are NOT going to just walk away and retire to the rubber chicken lunch circuit.

So to that end, Cheney won't resign. He won't leave and he won't leave under his own power. Remember this is the man who gets drunk, shoots his friends in the face, tells other Senators to f**k themselves on the Senate floor, writes notes on memo pages about outing undercover agents....and for all we know, ordered the downing of Flight 93 over PA.

He ain't goin' nowhere. At least not on his own power. If he leaves it will be in a black bag on a gurney cuz his mechanical heart couldn't even take the lies and deceit and arrogance and just plain shorted out.
