Secret Service frisks Colombian Guard of Honor:
How did this promote goodwill?

A US Secret Service agent (R) frisks a Colombian member of the Guard of Honour, prior to the arrival of US President George W.Bush at Catam military airport in Bogota, 11 March 2007. Bush visited Colombia Sunday in a show of support for the conflict-torn US ally, as violent protests continued to mark his goodwill tour of Latin America.

US President George W. Bush, accompanied by his wife Laura Bush (C) and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (L) waves on arrival at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. Bush arrived in Guatemala late Sunday for talks on immigration and free trade as he continued his five-nation tour of Latin America marked by mass anti-American protests

1. Uh, what a waste of time. They're patting the guy down, and he's standing there
HOLDING A RIFLE.

Looks like Laura's sportin' a new doo. Looks ghastly on the woman, as does the man to her left and the woman behind her.

5. Do we stand for frisks of our Honor Guards when foreign dignitaries visit this country?

2. Unbelievably arrogant & insulting. Probably the point.
What nation's leader has ever demanded to frisk
the Secret Service when they visited the White House?

To be fair, tho: what nation's leader has ever been as
universally HATED as Dubya?

3. I'm amazed that the Columbian government allowed that.
It seems like that would be a huge insult.

Can you imagine if the US provided a military honor guard for some foreign dignitary and they demanded to have their security team pat-down each and every soldier, sailer and marine in our honor guard?

We'd never hear the end of it!

6. I agree! It is a huge insult and displays such a lack of trust that * should
have stayed at the house he has occupied.

If * and Pickles are so afraid, why did they go on this "goodwill" trip?

4. Not to change the subject but...
Chimpy is looking a little moon-faced in that photo. I wonder what kind of drugs they have him on, now. Do anti-psychotic medications have that side effect?
