Has the VP ever been more inspiring and popular than the POTUS--re: Clark
I am sitting here watching Clark and seeing how inspiring he is in his concession speech. Given the grassroots support he has, he might be an ideal VP candidate. But that raises a question, has a VP ever been more popular than the president? I see a scenerio in which if Clark were chosen he would have more volunteers fighting for the opportunity to work for him rather than the nominee.

2. How is Clark popular?
Isn't that why he dropped out? The VP to worry about is Edwards because he IS such a charmer. Clark is creepy.

5. Sure there was...
Only it was on the Repub side...Teddy Roosevelt was chosen by William McKinley in 1900 precisely because he was a national hero (Spanish-American War) and because McKinley was perceived as staid and dull, while T.R. was a Progressive (appeasing that wing of that party, as well as many Democrats) and was the "hot" political celebrity.

John Kerry (should he go on to win the nomination) would do well to give Gen. Clark at least a long, hard look for either V.P. or Sec. of State--either way, he'd be quite a plus for the ticket in the fall!:D

B-)
