1. You're forgetting many believe Hilary is more intelligent than her
husband. Like her or not she did a lot of work in the Clinton administration. She's not my choice. But, she is qualified and highly intelligent. That said, I hope Gore runs.

2. How snidely condescending. How viciously belittling.
Just saying.

Obama doesn't have to worry about his enemies, his friends will destroy him.

6. That's a shitastic and wholly unfair comparison to make and I don't even particularly like Hillary.
She got where she is because, for better or worse, she's a damned good politician. Love her or hate her (or anything in between), she is her own person and not one to ride on her husband's coattails.

You can't be serious. She plans on riding them all the way back to the White House.

Democrats who eat their own are despicable.

George W. won on coattails, and he wasn't even smart.

Why give the GOP arguments against any of us?

14. While there might be some truth in what you say,
I think it's more of a reflection of our society's views towards women in power, rather than on Hillary's ability to do the job. She can do the job, just not with the approach I'd like to see.

26. Please allow me to clarify
I'm saying that without being married to a president, it probably would have been much more difficult for Hillary to be considered a serious contender for the presidency. And not just Hillary- any woman.

Again, that's no reflection on Hillary's qualifications or ability. Instead, it's a reflection about how reluctant our society is to elect women to positions of power. That's obviously been improving, but without her husband's name recognition and financial connections, I'm not sure Hillary would be in the position she's in today.

Again, that isn't Hillary's fault. Instead, it's a sad reflection of our society's reluctance to fully evolve when it comes to personal prejudices and equal consideration.

15. Who's the jerk who actually gave this thread a recommendation?
I tell you, sometimes I think that Democratic Underground and Free Republic are actually the same website. They are one in the same.

Only someone who is unenlightened of the facts, would have the audacity to suggest that Hillary is where she is because of her husband.

Obviously the facts just don't support that.

It's scary to these people like the originator of this thread, are the types of people who will be casting ballots next year. Just scary.

career to help Bill. One wonders what would have happened if she didn't and just pursued her own ambition? I am not a fan of Hillary's by any means, but this is below the belt. Not only is this a slam against all women but it is antidemocratic as well. This certainly doesn't reflect well on Obama who own wife is a lawyer as well. If Michelle Obama runs for office will you attack her because of her husband's fame as well? Sheesh.

38. There's you go again, changing the subject.
Yeah, she's had a term in the senate. So what? She got there because of name recognition from her husband, at least partly.

Do you think it's possible for a woman in America to become President without her husband having been President? I do. Senator Clinton's candidacy sets a poor example for American schoolchildren. It's a terrible lesson in political elitism and monarchy which has no place in our great land.
