Carol Costello CNN Says Good Looking Candidates Face Uphill Battle

In the clip below, CNN's Carol Costello reports that candidates with "good looks" may face an uphill battle.

"The last really cute president we had was Kennedy," says columnist Roland Martin, interviewed in the report. "That was 47 years ago. ... We really haven't had a stud as president ."

Costello identifies John Edwards (D-NC) as the candidate with the biggest "cuteness" problem. He is often lambasted for looking "feminine" by the right, she says.

"His political enemies ... brand him the equivalent of a dumb blond," she says.

But other candidates may have cause for concern, according to Costello. Barack Obama (D-IL) worries about his image, she says, and "Republican candidate Mitt Romney may have a bit of a pretty problem, too."

1948: Truman over Dewey
1964: LBJ
1968 & 1972: Nixon
1988: GHWB
2000: Gore actually won, so that doesn't count.
2004: ???
