Will 04-06 Obama's "good soldier" I didn't have the intel so I can't critize IWR votes mute his main

issue

From 2004 to 2006 there are several Obama quotes/emails that could be called being a good soldier - if you are a Obama supporter, or be called telling the truth, if you support someone who voted for the IWR. Will the revelation of these quotes existing mute Obama's only developed issue and force him to move on to other issues in detail?

If he stepped down into that, he'd have a handful of democratic primary candidates after him as a group.

I'm not taken to supporting any of the candidates at this point, but I think avoiding the mudslinging at this point is a darn good idea.

Do you think when he referred to the only candidate who has put out any real ideas (another today on energy) as merely "good-looking" he was intending to compliment Edwards or denigrate him? Quit seeing the guy you want to see in Obama and start seeing the guy (or shadow of a guy) who is there.

The good thing is that he did not wait to run for president before he presented his ideas.

As for Edwards, he started with absolutely no positions on issues. Good for him if he is starting to put some meat on the bones, but this is totally new (just a few weeks).

Obama nor any of the other candidates can afford to do that. Edwards is also avoiding making any general condemnation of others' IWR vote.

For Obama it makes sense that he avoid unifying his opposition along their IWR votes, or other issues. By not entering into that he avoids a round of mudslinging.

But Obama, and the each other candidate, can take the others on an individual basis.

Obama has been interested in building support on campuses and he finds plenty of ammo that he can feed the YouTube generation. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Obama say something about Hillary's ability to sing on key and doing it in a way that is loaded with double meaning. And I'm wondering if his statement about Edwards wasn't playing with the combing hair video.

Obama was out and up front in opposition to the war from the beginning. Hillary can throw up all the dust in the world but her vote for the IWR and her subsequent cheer-leading and flip-flopping on the issue will haunt her.

Obama's opposition to the war, and his plan for withdrawal, is hardly his only developed issue.

And yes, by the same way, I can probably find a few statements that make Hillary look like the leader of the out of Iraq caucus. We all know that both impressions are totally distorted, and those who believe that probably also thought that Bush was a "compassionate" Conservative.

Frankly, if Obama was ready to be responsible, think about issues, and try to find solutions, rather than grab the first slogan that will please people, all the more power to him.

Of course, it is very unsatisfying to those who think that the louder you yell, the more convincing and useful you are.

This said, it seems that we are all the more ready to accept the first panderer if he says what we like.

In fact, this article makes me like Obama a little more.
