why has there been so much hype about the Hillary Clinton "1984" video? It isn't very good.

It doesn't even have a message to speak of, and while I understand it is modeled after the Apple "1984" ad, that still doesnt make the scrolling text at the end make any more sense. Someone please explain how this will sway one voter to Obama (who, don't get me wrong, I want to win).

1. I dunno, I think it's PRO-Hillary cuz she is saying the opposite
of what the masses of sheeple (obviously braindamaged from 8 years of *) are currently experiencing. So SHE'S the breath of fresh air.

4. It won't sway a voter. Which is why I think some GOP guy did it.
He got TWO With One Blow.

Obama looks meanspirited by beating up on HRC with rightwing themes, and HRC looks like an evil pre-ordained robot.

Very clever, the whole thing. It sure doesn't match Obama's dignity, or his or his wife's assertion that they would run a classy campaign.

So I don't think it's too swift, the whole campaign; and thus I ask the question, CUI BONO? Who BENEFITS???

It benefits no Democrat...IMO.

7. It has a message.
A strong one.
Hillary is the establishment, the voice that the Party and the media is pushing on you.

Have you heard Obama tell crowds that "this campaign is about you." There's a basic difference in attitude and philosophy between Obama and Hillary. One is self-empowering while the other is not. Obama talks about his campaign being a vehicle for others to take action with or without the campaign, while Hillary talks in the ad about what she's going to tell you and how we're all going to be a team. One is new and fresh while the other is what we've been hearing for years. One has a unique message while Hillary has poll-tested platitudes.

8. I thought the ad was well done technically.
And hope they ultimately rework it to use in the general.

9. Is that the original mashup or the GOP mashup you refer to...
I thought the first mashup was funny...but not that big a deal. The GOP version is just plain stupid, predictable and a ripoff of the first version.

10. Seems like an attempt to torpedo Obama and Hillery in one move.
If we let them get away with it.

I for one an certain Obama had nothing to do with it.

11. the ad
The overall message of the ad might have been good, but they picked just about the worst speech to highlight their point.

It makes no sense in in the context. I guess they chose her "I'm running" speech, but the speech itself has no characteristics with what the ad is trying to imply.

12. Recycling of the same visceral response that the original ad generated?
It is still one of the most lauded adverts in history, having garnered many industry awards including the prestigious "commercial of the decade" award for the 80's from Advertising Age, and TV Guide gave it the number one spot for the "50 Greatest Commercials of All Time".

It is also a terrific example to prove that visual impression trumps message content (a lesson I wish my candidate of choice would better understand).
