Republicans in Louisiana now have a dilemma - What a shame
Yesterday Democratic Governor Kathleen Blanco said she would not seek reelection (my only comment per that, she's another victim of Katrina.) In so doing the Governor has taken away the republicans one and only issue. Her. They now have to be FOR something. Not a strong suit for republicans especially in a poor state. Former Senator Breaux is making noises about running and the gop is already attacking him over residency issues. He does not now live in the state. If that tact is not ripe for backlash, none is.

1. From what I've seen, Gov. Blanco is a decent, well-meaning lady
in an IMPOSSIBLE situation. I don't blame her for not running again. Come to think of it, why would ANYONE want to be governor of that ungovernable state?

2. I am greatly concerned that any repuke governor would have a vested interest
in seeing that displaced New Orleanians (i.e. Democrats) NOT return.

Thus, a repuke victory could mean the end of the recovery process, such as it is. :scared:

3. Breaux
may be the dems only hope. The last thing the state needs is little dipshit bobby jindal getting elected. He has the racist, ignorant trash, religiously insane vote wrapped up.

4. I'm somewhat of an optimist for my state, and while I know
many on DU may not care for Breaux OR Landreiu, they are damn good Dems when you look at what most Red states elect.
Breaux will be Governor during redistricting, another important fact, plus his candidacy should encourage a number of Dem's to run against all the freaking Repuke congressmen we have.
It makes for a whole knew ball game in Louisiana otherwise the GOPers wouldn't be screaming foul and crying their collective aS$$es off.

5. Roger that teammate
I'm across the border in Mississippi, just a few miles from Slidell. My congressman Gene Taylor is not a poster boy democrat but compared to the trash who has run against him he is a flaming Jane Fonda. And bobby jindal is a little dipshit who will ensure the rich are well taken care of if elected. I laughed everytime I saw that prick after katrina doing his best liberal immitation, pretending to be compassionate and caring about people. I'd like to see Breaux take him to the woodshed like Blanco did in 03.

6. Jindal's done nothing but blow smoke up people' arses. If
he's foolish enough to run against Breaux, he's going to find his self whipped by a whole willow tree, rather than just Blanco's switch 4 years ago.
