DOD Regulations Forbid Bush Using Troops and Vets As Political Props
Edited on Sun Mar-25-07 09:24 AM by RestoreGore
I was disturbed when I saw this sociopathic frat boy on tv the other day in passing with his quivering lower lip defiantly stating that he would veto any bill that placed a timetable on withdrawing troops from Iraq in the same bill as funding because it didn't support the troops... as a uniformed troop and vet stood behind him as he spoke as if to say that if you are against this occupation going any further and wish to end it FOR the sake of our country and our troops that you are AGAINST our troops. Just who the HELL does he think he is? Personally, I think he is mentally ill and if we do not stop him by impeaching him, Cheney, and the lot of these thugs we are going to see catastrophe. Anyhow, I found this link from John Aravosis citing the regs that show once again that rules mean nothing to these traitors. And just who would he get to do this? Were these people really even from the military?

Excerpt:

Let me quote the relevant regulations...

Regarding active duty troops

It is DoD policy that:

3.1. The wearing of the uniform by members of the Armed Forces (including retired members and members of Reserve components) is prohibited under any of the following circumstances:

3.1.1. At any meeting or demonstration that is a function of, or sponsored by an organization, association, movement, group, or combination of persons that the Attorney General of the United States has designated, under Executive Order 10450 as amended (reference (c)), as totalitarian, fascist, communist, or subversive, or as having adopted a policy of advocating or approving the commission of acts of force or violence to deny others their rights under the Constitution of the United States, or as seeking to alter the form of Government of the United States by unconstitutional means.

3.1.2. During or in connection with furthering political activities, private employment or commercial interests, when an inference of official sponsorship for the activity or interest may be drawn.

3.1.3. Except when authorized by the approval authorities in subparagraph 4.1.1., when participating in activities such as unofficial public speeches, interviews, picket lines, marches, rallies or any public demonstration, which may imply Service sanction of the cause for which the demonstration or activity is conducted.
And regarding retired vets:

3.2. Former members of the Armed Forces, unless under another provision of this Instruction or
under the terms of Section 772 of title 10, United States Code (reference (d)), who served honorably during a declared or undeclared war and whose most recent service was terminated under honorable conditions may wear the uniform in the highest grade held during such war service only on the following occasions and in the course of travel incident thereto:

3.2.1. Military funerals, memorial services, weddings, and inaugurals.

3.2.2. Parades on National or State holidays; or other parades or ceremonies of a patriotic character in which any Active or Reserve United States military unit is taking part.

3.2.3. Wearing of the uniform or any part thereof at any other time or for any other purposes is prohibited.

3.3. Medal of Honor holders may wear the uniform at their pleasure except under the circumstances set forth in paragraph 3.1., above.

1. Of course, if Bush were a LEGITIMATE Commander In Chief...
And not a corporate prop himself, he would know the rules.

3. Nonsense. He's a Republican. He can always buy off someone to tell him the rules.
Or how to circumvent them.

Impeachment is a moral imperative.

6. American Legion as traitorous as German Bund in WWII
The American Legion is a traitorous organization. It supports right wing, anti-American goals of dictatorship, much in the same way as the right wing non-Nazi European (note: not just German) organizations did during the 1930s. The sole purpose of the American Legion is to threaten members of Congress and the executive branch with a non-democratic, non-representative caucus system which enables the leaders of the 'movement' to pretty much decide that 'patriotic' Americans should believe what they are told. Notice that most of the so-called 'officers' of the American Legion are not general/flag or even field grade officers during their service themselves.

I'm a veteran, and I will not join this treason mongering entity. I'm also a gun owner, and have even less use for the ReTHUGlic National Rifle Association, which supports ReTHUGlics over even their own members, if that member happens to not be a card carrying ReTHUGlic. I have uncles in the local American Legion, and they are always after me to join (sigh). This sort of episode illustrates the lust for power for these evil, corrupt so-called leaders of veterans. I've tried explaining this to my uncles, but they don't want to understand; they see it as a 'patriotic' duty to be a member.

I despise the American Legion and its corruption. I've been eligible for membership for the last 15 or so years (you'd think an organization supposedly 'devoted to the welfare of veterans' would be happy to enlist all veterans, but no - the American Legion has a specific schedule of what service periods are deemed 'acceptable' - and mine didn't qualify for over ten years!). So, there goes the whole rationale for the veteran's welfare being the primary purpose of the American Legion. Where is the Legion's condemnation of the Bushevik regime's callous indifference to the maimed troops in Walter Reed and other military hospitals? Haven't heard the 'commander' chastise Dumbya publicly for that!

Bluntly, they are traitors to the oath that all service members swear to uphold the Constitution and the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. The reTHUGlic party is a domestic enemy of America, and should be treated as such by all Americans. Especially the veterans.
