Kucinich On Fox News: ‘Maybe The Lion Doesn’t Want To Eat Me Because I’m A Vegan’

This weekend, ThinkProgress caught up with Dennis and his wife Elizabeth Kucinich to get their thoughts on a variety of issues. Here are some highlights:

Elizabeth on health care:

I’m from Europe — wherever I travel in Europe — we can all get universal health care coverage. It’s astounding to me — as I came into this country a few years ago — to see how many people don’t have access. And all of these political strings that are attached to people, to say that’s not possible. Well, it is possible. The rest of the world does it.

Dennis on his opposition to the Iraq supplemental bill:

I have voted against each and every appropriation for the war…because it’s not plausible to say that you are for peace and that you continue to fund the war. … moving on now with the support of a lot of good people who ought to know better. … And the fact that most Democrats bought into this — let me tell you something. I’m not afraid to take a stand.

Dennis on refusing to endorse the Fox News boycott:

I continue to challenge Fox. MoveOn’s right about a lot of things they said about Fox. But, you know, I’m a presidential candidate. I have to be ready to go into the lion’s den. I’m a vegetarian and a vegan — I mean, maybe the lion doesn’t want to eat me because I’m a vegan.

1. I'm sure the FOX "News" crew doesn't have a clue

about veganism, but they probably don't want to deal with Dennis for other reasons. He's not easily intimidated.

But beware, Dennis -- lions eat herbivores, such as zebras. Vegans are herbivores. Watch your back. We need you!

Dennis was talking against invading Iraq at least six months before the * crew rolled out their war plan. (Do a search for "A Prayer for America," a speech he gave in February 2002.)

Elizabeth makes excellent points about universal health care and I think Dennis has the best plan to bring about universal health care in the US.

Dennis and Elizabeth :yourock:

2. Wow! A vegan AND a peacenik! Too bad he didn't smoke pot or snort
cocaine or be a drunk, he could've been President. He's in the wrong league.

5. You know, I'd like to like Dennis. I WANT to like Dennis, but...
All I can remember is that during the 2004 campaign, he was the one who brought a display chart to a radio debate.

6. Dear Dennis
Dealing with Fox is like dealing with the Fred Phelps Gang. They see opposition as confirmation of their divine mandate, and serious questions roll off them because you're not in the club. This is the network that misidentifies Republican wrongdoers as Democrats. Time and again. This is the network that treats Iraq's descent into civil war as a political development to be exploited on behalf of the Republicans. This is the network that treats you the same whether you appear or don't appear: Like dirt. This is the network run by a Republican operative, Roger Ailes, and if you don't think the Elephant flies above the Eagle at Fox, then (and I mean this with all due respect) then you are a dumbass.

They know what they're doing, and they're not going to change just because you treat them like they deserve some respect. There's too much money and too much influence to be peddled. You seem like a nice guy, but smarten up wouldja?

7. 6 replies and not one that deals with the issues presented.
That's 6 failing grades and indicative of what's wrong with this nation. I guess it's just not bad enough yet, by the time the frogs realize they're dying it will be too late to jump out of the pot.
