You don't like Joe Lieberman - here are 20 solutions to take care of it
Twenty opporutunities for us to find a few extra seats in the Senate so we can keep our majority and get rid of Liberman. I'm no fan of Joementum, but I want my senate majority and I'll deal with him until 2008 - then we're getting rid of some of these repukes and add to our majority. We've got a few out there that should be easy targets!

Alexander, Lamar- (R - TN)
Allard, Wayne- (R - CO)
Chambliss, Saxby- (R - GA)
Cochran, Thad- (R - MS)
Coleman, Norm- (R - MN)
Collins, Susan M.- (R - ME)
Cornyn, John- (R - TX)
Craig, Larry E.- (R - ID)
Dole, Elizabeth- (R - NC)
Domenici, Pete V.- (R - NM)
Enzi, Michael B.- (R - WY)
Graham, Lindsey- (R - SC)
Hagel, Chuck- (R - NE)
Inhofe, James M.- (R - OK)
McConnell, Mitch- (R - KY)
Roberts, Pat- (R - KS)
Sessions, Jeff- (R - AL)
Smith, Gordon H.- (R - OR)
Stevens, Ted- (R - AK)
Sununu, John E.- (R - NH)
Warner, John- (R - VA)

1. Rumors abound
in Mississippi that Cochran won't run again. If he doesn't I see the race as a tossup.

2. I think Wayne Allard is retiring
And that's another competitive seat. Plus I believe that Norm Coleman is a goner up in Minnesota

9. Coleman is power ranked at 93 out of 100 --> Not very effective
2006 he was 71
2005 he was 76

18. I would agree about Coleman. He has been changing his tune
lately but it will not help. Too many cuts that we can directly blame on *ss and his buddies in congress. And in Minnesota it is common knowledge.

17. Yup, Mike Moore will make a good Senator
Edited on Wed Mar-28-07 01:56 PM by Hippo_Tron
The Republic Party is scared shitless that he can win a Senate seat in Mississippi which is probably how they convinced Trent Lott to run again.

4. You are absolutely correct. In 2008 we will take the Senate back in a big way
Lieberman will then become irrelevant. That is one reason why I believe he isn't jumping completely over to the republican side because he sees the writing on the wall

8. That's a really good point
He fucks the democratic party in 2007, he'll get totally fucked if the Dems take a big bite out of the Republican's share of the senate.

11. We should urge all our GOP candidates to invite bush to our states
to campaign, to be seen and photographed with the great leader. lieberman is a worthless jerkoff, he'd be a puke today but he sees the writing on the wall. Better to be an "independent democrat" then a member of a very minor minority party.

10. Isn't he kinda like Montgomery Burns from the Simpsons...
...where they bring him out of the freezer and pump him back to life when they need him.

I read where Ted Stevens will continue to serve until they get ANWR opened up for drilling.

12. I believe it was yesterday that C-SPAN had on their banner line.
some Republic, said that they won't be able to hold on to the 21 seats up for grabs in 2008. I am sorry that I have no more details, as I said, it was running on their banner line, and I caught it at the tail end.

I know they use this to whip up their base, they tried it in 2006, and guess what!

14. I don't know how much I buy those power rankings
They gave Joe Biden a pretty low power ranking but this guy is the Chair of the Foreign Relation committee, which is a pretty major committee. Because of that he really only serves in one other committee - Judiciary (another powerhouse committee). Plus the guy has been serving since the 70s

And yet our other, Tom Carper, has a higher ranking and I don't think Carper has any Chair positions but he definately has more committee assignments and has only started his second term.

16. I'm confused..weren't you a fan of Lieberman at one point? what changed your mind?
or I may be confusing you with someone else.
I remember it was in reference to the bankruptcy bill or somesuch before the primary.

regardless, I think your suggestions are good ones, but I still think we should eliminate Lieberman COMPLETELY from public service.

23. really? to me, Lieberman is thousands of times WORSE then republicans.
he's a quisling, a traitor and he continues to try to fork us against the republicans by dangling his one vote and threatening to yank it away again.

there is nothing lower than Lieberman.

I think you need to pick better heroes.

25. Lieberman has been the best when it comes to choice, education & environment
and especially for labor.

There aren't too many republicans who can say that. The problem with Lieberman is he associated with the #1 issue for so many democrats which is the war. But you look at his record he's more liberal than what most folks give him credit.

27. Who the hell is defending the guy - you need to get over yourself
Geez, but this should be expected from you - the master of reading what he wants to see.

I never defending Lieberman only that we need to put up with him until 2008 because we need that majority. And as for political rankings in my world - there are no republicans who will EVER rate higher than a democrat or even an indepedant democrat.

28. ok, wake up and smell you own coffee here: you start a thread telling people
that if they don't like lieberman, target other people instead. What is the purpose of this thread, except to distract people from targeting lieberman for replacement?

then you continue to laud his record, AS IF HE WERE STILL A DEMOCRAT, which he ain't.

um...ok, you're NOT defending him at all.

Last time I checked, this was DEMOCRATIC underground.

my point only is that you need to find better heroes. honestly.

30. Purpose of this thread is we have too much to lose if he switches parties now
And I think you'll find that most DUers here even the staunchest anti-Lieberman folks, recognize that we're stuck between a rock & a hardplace until we get rid of a few more republican senators.

And god forbid I start a thread suggesting that DUers actually get involved with removing republicans from senate in 2008 - holy shit, someone alert the presses for me actually suggesting that.

Your act is old and tiresome

19. Clear Targets are the ones in Blue or 'purple' states....
Coleman (MN), Collins (ME), Domenici (NM) (hopefully the AG scandal will bring this clown down too), Smith (Oregon!?) and Allard rank as most vulnerable. We should pour money into these states. I'm setting aside my warchest now.

21. I don't think we'll get rid of Collins
Her and Snowe are very popular up in Maine because both of them are moderates who happen to be pro-choice.

I mean I'd still like to see someone give her a run for the money but if we can get wins in some of those other states I won't be totally disappointed if she's back again.
