This is a racist country.

Don't believe me?

Take a look at all the Imus threads.

and he helpd give us the ultra right wing radical Clarence Thomas.

7. That has irked me for years. Biden chickened
out, but the one I absolutely loathe is Arlen Specter. He really made an ass of himself that day. I have not liked him since.

8. Hillary is pretty strong outside our community. She seems to
have more support among the non activist Dems.

I don't care who is the nominee, as long as they can win.

I think Richardson will be picked as the Veep. He'd bring in a lot of south west voters and Hispanics. He will also bring a lot of foreign policy experience.
He'd be a perfect fit for the three top candidates, Hillary, Obama, Edwards.

I suspect her numbers will drop as the non-activists begin getting a better picture of some of the other candidates.

10. As I have written often, people
are looking closer at Obama and not seeing what they need in a president. This go around it will not be who one would like to drink a beer with, but the one that has the foresight, knowledge to lead this country back and Obama is not the one......HRC will be the 44th President of the United States.....

"Suppose the choice for the Democratic presidential nomination narrows down to Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama. Which one would you prefer the Democratic Party nominate for president: Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama?"

4/2-5/07 61% CLinton
33% Obama
6% Unsure

3/23-25/07 56% Clinton
37% Obama
6% Unsure

The equation still could be radically changed if Al Gore enters the race.

Then how will she read (right now the two more vibrant candidates - Obama and Edwards are splitting a sizeable chunk of the vote)

I'd be in that fraction now, and I know I'd far prefer Obama or Edwards over Clinton.

24. Just a minute! I think Biden is the best candidate running right now.
Edited on Wed Apr-11-07 04:57 PM by Jillian
No he is not perfect.
Yes he has done several things that have really pissed me off.

BUT

IRAQ:
Biden is the only candidate that has an actual plan to get us out of there. If you are not familar with it, then check out the link in my sig line. He has been endorsed my many foreign relation experts. His plan is referred to by many.
He also presented an amendment for our soldiers in Iraq/ Afganistan to have MRAP vehicles. The amendment was passed 98 - 0. Of course it is attatched to the Suplemental Spending bill that the asshole in charge is going to veto.

ENVIRONMENT
He has introduced legislation that would boost federal investment in the development of lithium ion batteries that he says is critical for producing the next generation of hybrid vehicles.
and this:
http://biden.senate.gov/newsroom/details.cfm?id=271493&&&search_field=environment
calling for the US to return to to international negotiations on climate change. The FIRST legislation on climate change to be presented to the new Congress.

HEALTHCARE
To insure everyone under 18.

I could go on and on.

But my favorite thing about Biden is his mouth. Even though it gets him in trouble. He is not the kind of candidate that is going to change with the polls. He is genuine. He says what is on his mind.
What other candidate would say this regarding Bush's veto threat?
"The president's playing chicken with a real failed policy here".

And about the surge
"Mr President you are leading us off a cliff. Stop!"

Give the guy a chance.

I can't get behind Hillary.
And I am still waiting for Obama to impress me.

29. Biden is just as much DLC as Clinton is...
That for me keeps him out. Check out his record on votes like the Bankruptcy bill. That reveals his being two faced when it comes to votes on things that his corporate sponsors' goals come into conflict with what the Democratic constituency wants.

And though he has a "plan" for Iraq, I'm still not convinced that balkanization of Iraq is "THE" solution. It has its potential problems too, like increasing the liklihood of conflict between a Kurdish area and the other countries around it with Kurdish areas (Iran, Turkey, and Syria).

Ultimately I want someone that a) has a chance at winning, and b) has as little corporate influences as possible. Biden fails on both of those counts for me. Gore would be far more likely to meet those two goals than others here, if he were to run.

if a poll put hc at 100%; my opinion would be the same, and my support and vote would still go elsewhere.

30. Given that "you" know,
what is the point of poll numbers? Are they supposed to change someone's mind? Are people supposed to think,

"Oh, well. Lots of people don't think the same way I do; I'd better go along even though that really doesn't work for me?"

Actually, this whole primary race seems ridiculous to me. But I think the OP was just being light-hearted.
