Holy crap -- A bomb at the Iraqi Parliament?!?

Bombing at Iraqi parliament kills 2

By QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA, Associated Press Writer 4 minutes ago

BAGHDAD - A suspected suicide bomber blew himself up Thursday in the Iraqi parliament's cafeteria in a stunning assault in the heart of the heavily fortified, U.S.-protected Green Zone, killing at least two lawmakers and wounding dozens of other people.

8. Right, it's a sign of success...
The more violence there, the more we're succeeding; the more peace there, the more we're succeeding.

Are we turning a corner again?

:sarcasm:

10. Condi weighed in, too
She said it was the work of people who are trying to stop the U.S. from attaining its goals in the region.

I'm not stunned that the Green Zone was breached; I'm stunned by the patent cluelessness of anyone who thought the Green Zone was impregnable.

12. Oh absolutely
It is significant that members of the Iraqi parliament were killed. I hope, though I suspect the hope is in vain, that this will jolt one or two people out of their self-delusion that anyone or anyplace is invulnerable to attack. If someone doesn't mind being killed in the process, and the so-called insurgents are either fanatical or desperate enough to have gotten to that horrible point, anyone is a reachable target.

So, since violence isn't going to drive out violence, and darkness seems incapable of defeating darkness, what are our choices?
