A suspected suicide bomber blew himself up in the
Iraqi parliament cafeteria in a stunning assault in the
heart of the heavily fortified, U.S.-protected Green
Zone on Thursday, killing at least eight people, the
American military said. At least two lawmakers, and at
least 10 other people were wounded. Thursday's attack
came hours after a suicide truck bomb exploded on a
major bridge in Baghdad, collapsing the steel structure
and sending cars tumbling into the Tigris River below,
police and witnesses said. At least 10 people were
killed in that attack.

e-mails sent on a Republican account that might have been
lost, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick
Leahy suggested Thursday, vowing to subpoena those
documents if the administration fails to cough them up. "They
say they have not been preserved. I don't believe
that!" Leahy shouted from the Senate floor. "You can't
erase e-mails, not today. They've gone through too many
servers," said Leahy, D-Vt. "Those e-mails are there,
they just don't want to produce them. We'll subpoena
them if necessary."
