SENECA, S.C.--Johhn Edwards is coming home.
The former North Carolina senator and current Democratic presidential candidate is expected in Seneca Monday.
“He’ll be at Jimmy’s Restaurant on U.S. 123 at 9 a.m. and will stop at Staton’s Diner on S.C. 24 in Anderson near Ingles after that,” said Charles Hamby, the former Oconee County Democrat Party chairman who is still active in the state Democratic Party.
Mr. Edwards was born at Oconee hospital in Seneca, what is now Lila Doyle Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center, and lived in the Utica Mill village and later lived near the Jantzen plant off S.C. 28 where his father was employed.
Crews from CNN and NBC’s “The Today Show,” are expected to accompany Mr. Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, to places where Mr. Edwards grew up, according to a spokesman with the Edwards campaign.
Mr. Edwards also attended Northside Elementary School in Seneca and, after moving to North Carolina, returned to Seneca during his freshman year at Clemson University where he was a walk-on for the football team. He returned to North Carolina and went on to graduate from law school and married Elizabeth.

“John Edwards has become the populist candidate in the presidential race,” Mr. Campbell said. “In my mind only, Edwards is willing to take on the tough issues like energy independence, a national health care plan and he is the only candidate willing to admit he made a mistake buying into this administration’s Iraq policy.”
