When it comes to GOP scandals, the media can't walk and chew gum
Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 08:37 PM by arendt
Imagine if VA Tech happened two days after D-Day. Don't you think the media
of 1944 would have made D-Day the main story? Not that they would have
dropped a huge, emotional, human interest story like VA Tech. But, given that
the fate of our democracy hung in the balance on D-Day (like it does today,
although you would never know it from the corporate media), I think they would
have been able to manage the two stories with the correct balance.

Not this whore press. Its all VA Tech, all the time. Alberto who? What lies?
What perjury? What quagmire in Iraq? Look. Look. The "healer-in-chief" is
going to speak at VA Tech. Forget all about he was AWOL for New Orleans,
just like he has been AWOL his entire life when it comes to doing anything for
anyone but himself and his cronies.

Remember when they were impeaching Clinton? It was non-stop. Clinton actually
ran a multi-week military action in Bosnia in which not one US casualty occurred.
But, all the media could do was slobber over every illegally leaked bit of sleazy
porn that Ken Starr could throw their way. But when it comes to impeaching or
firing anybody in this gangster administration, the media is AWOL. Bushco can
literally screw a horse in public, and this media will call them animal lovers and
outdoorsmen.

The media today is like a rainstorm that washes away the evidence of the Bush
Gang's crimes in a steady downpour of Anna Nicoles and Imuses and VA Techs.
They literally can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Chewing the sensationalist
gum trumps walking their post for democracy every time. But, when there is the
slightest hint that a Democrat might have done something wrong, the media weather
turns bright and sunny. Lo and behold, they can see a gnat's eyebrow at fifty paces.

I refuse to discuss anything about VA Tech. It happened. Its over. It happened before
in this benighted country. It will happen again. Because "violence is as American
as cherry pie".

But, if we don't put the spotlight back on Gonzalez and the US attorneys, our
justice system is completely gone - and with it, any remaining hope of getting our
democracy back.

We must get rid of this toxic, lying, biased corporate propaganda apparatus. And
we must do it today. Call your corporate sock puppets and tell them you are sick
to death of sensationalism. Tell them you want to know what this lying sack of
shit Gonzalez says to Congress.

1. They seemed to go from Anna Nicole Smith,
to Don Imus, to Virginia Tech seamlessly, with very little in between.
