How can Gun Makers make more money?
This Va Tech shooting is lots of free marketing and publicity for the NRA and gun manufacturers (who make millions off the deaths of our children). Now all the NRA supporters, gun enthusiasts and 2nd amendment lovers can go on the media and encourage everyone to buy more guns to protect themselves.

I predict that stock prices and sales of guns will increase. Also, black market guns sold at trade shows will increase.

Teh NRA will now buy off our politicians, helping Democrats secure power in the Congress - by donating more to the campaigns to ensure that no anti-gun laws are passed.

Its not about the 2nd Amendment - its about Capitalism and Greed - its about BLOOD MONEY.

1. Of course more money will be made off this...
but the "blood money" will be on the hands of the gun banners themselves.

Anytime new bans are proposed on particular firearms ("assault weapons"), and/or accessories ("hi-cap mags"), sales will skyrocket as buyers rush to beat the ban.

Hell... I'm guilty of doing just that myself. I have way more "hi-cap" mags than I'll ever need or use.
But, I'd rather have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it.

In a twisted sort of way... people like the Sarah Brady, Carolyn McCarthy, Dianne Feinstein, etc are good for the gun manufacturers profit margin.

2. The gun lobby will welcome arming all adults 18 or older and making
...the licencing of consealed fire arms a lot easier.

Such an action will have the opposite effect causing the murder rate to accelerate from the present 5.9 per 100,000 population to probably double to between 10.9 to 12.0 per 100,000 immediately. That was the level of the murder rate during the NRA haydays of the Reagan presidency. Thus by the year 2012 with a U.S. population approaching 335.0 million people total murders will increase from 18,700 expected by the end of this year to somewhere between 36,644 to 40,345 annual murders.

That level of killing efficiency could only be accomplished by the use of a weapon designed specifically for the purpose of killing, the gun.

Yesterday's tragic mass murder at VA Tech proves just how efficient the gun can be in accomplishing that task, 32 murders, 1 apparent suicide and 15 seriously wounded human beings with a single 9mm pistol which I believe was semi automatic clip reload, and a .22 caliber weapon as backup.

3. And you're basing those numbers on what, exactly?
When states let their citizens get CCW permits, the violent crime and murder rates go down.

4. Somebody stop me....
This is my first ever gun post.

I am no gun nut. My mom is. Has several guns, grew up in W. Virgina. When the first assault gun ban was established, I think back in 89 or somewhere around then. I remember she bought a AK47. Just because she was not trustful of the government to ban weapons.

I got to tell ya, we used to have a 37 in our home. My husband took it out before I quit drinking ;-). I got mad one time, but enough about me.

I have a real problem with gun restrictions. Sorry folks, I have read way too much in the past 6 years. I know who the real enemies are. And they ain't over there. You need to be able to secure your household and hell you may even have to help secure your block.

We will never be a match for helicopters and SWAT. But I will be damned if they are gonna get my fresh garden vegetables and bottled water.

7. They could skip serial numbers in a sequence of guns
so they could sell them to whomever they want and the whole thing would be untraceable.

But that is just a theory

9. Everything is not a conspiracy...
I know that the great mysterious Boogeyman is responsible for everything with some members of DU. However, this shows your ignorance of guns, BATFE inspection regs of a Class 7 manufacturer.

If BATFE inspected the serial number logs, they would see the gap. There's no way to hide it. If a gun from that "gap" were found later to have been used in a crime, then immediately BATFE is gonna want to know why it's not in the database with it's "Origin paperwork"..You cannot imagine the problems that would ensue.

For the tinfoilers, the easier way would be to crank up production with a certain batch and leave ALL marking off the weapons..The problem is that it involves metal stampers, inventory people, etc..Translation it couldn't be pulled off without a lot of people being involved.

Besides, the gun industry is not that huge money making empire that everyone thinks it is. The entire US gun industry was once compared,(per gross income), with that of 1/3 of the American pizza industry.

I bought Sturm, Ruger & Co. stock at about $9.25. (It's one of the more responsible manufacturers, BTW.) Note that it's gone down the last few days.
