Bill Clinton & James Carville up to their tricks
And I like both of them frankly, but all this talk of 'Gore possibly running' is nothing but a clever way to try to keep donors away from Obama. They can try, but it won't work. They're the only ones even talking about a Gore campaign lately. Most other insiders agree that right now, he's leaning towards staying at home.

9. I suspect Gore will endorse
the eventual Democratic nominee. None of the Democratic candidates oppose Al Gore's environmental policies and there is little advantage to Al Gore endorsing anyone in the primary, since he's trying to stay above politics.

I think it's wishful thinking on anyone's part to think he'll endorse their prefered candidate.

19. Maybe so, but he did endorse Howard Dean in 2004.
That doesn't mean he'll endorse any particular candidate or endorse anyone at all. But he wasn't above doing so last time.

2. I think Gore is Plan B for the Clinton Campaign
They know Hillary has big negatives. If it looks like things are going to pot, they will get Gore to Run, throw their weight behind him and than put Hillary on the Gore/Clinton Ticket. A Gore/Clinton ticket might actually work. And Hillary can run for President in 2016 with time to remake her more likeable by than.

3. That would be hilarious
The right wing would be foaming at the mouth. I always enjoy that.

But here in ground-based reality world, Gore is not running again, although he plans some serious face time with the media and public on behalf of the evntual Democratic nominee.

But it would be sweet.........

5. I suppose that' possibility, but I understand Al & Hillary really dislike
each other a lot! For that reason alone, I suspect your idea just doesn;t work.

6. Naw, Gore distanced himself from Hillary long ago. My guess is the Clintons would prefer
Obama over Gore, because their corporate interests are much closer.

Take health care for example. Gore favors single payer health insurance.

Clinton and Obama don't. They prefer subsidizing the corporate insurance industry, as far as I can tell.

15. Rare to have a strong VP AND a strong 'First Lady'. Clinton's the first to do that.
You usually have one or the other.

17. Gore was the first strong VP. He changed the job title. And Hillary was the first strong
First Lady, at least publicly. Nancy Reagan was probably president for quite awhile there.

I prefer the "First Spouse" as an Icon, since we don't really elect her/him to office.

What if a first spouse got a divorce during office, and we got another who was crazy?

25. I didn't say they were fans of each other, I said their views on issues are closer
to each other than to Gore.

That's as best as I can tell, since neither Hillary or Obama are very forthcoming on where they stand on many issues.

I have been to both their (Clinton and Obama) websites, and it's hard to tell where they stand. I have asked both Clinton and Obama supporters what issues and solutions they like about their candidates, with no responce. However, from various comments by the candidates and what little information both choose to share with voters, I can't see much difference from a policy perspective.

Both seem to favor an American Empire over a Republic, both seem to be solidly committed to the military industrial complex, both seem to favor corporate welfare over basic structual change to help those struggling to make it in our country.

The biggest differences I can find is personality. They both have their own unique personalities, and this seems to me to be the basic determination that their supporters make in choosing their candidate.
While this is a bit depressing, it certainly isn't surprising.

7. She'd be just shy of seventy at that point. I disagree--it is now or never for Clinton.
It's now or never for Gore, too.

About the only people with time on their sides in this equation are Obama and Edwards.

12. Gore is running
There has been a great deal of talk about a "Gore campaign" lately.
I don't know of "any insiders" agreeing that Gore is "staying at home" --
in fact, they just held yet another Gore supporter summit not long ago.

They are both under 60 (even if barely) and so have plenty of time.

18. Gore probably isn't running. I got an email with something from TPM...
One of Gore's big supporters in NH, I think....called their office to see if it would be OK to donate to another campaign.
Office gave the go ahead.

22. One of Gore's long time supporters called him to see if it was okay to go ahead
and donate to Obama. Gore's office said to go ahead.
Gore is not going to run but, the Clintonista's are so worried. On Larry King, Bill totally sidestepped questions about Obama.

24. I know Bill Clinton supports Hillary..
but James Carville?

based on what I've read, Carville hasn't been paid by any of the current candidates running for President. even if he has, what makes you think most of the potential Gore donors would back Obama?

Carville has stated that he thinks Hillary can win if nominated, but this doesn't mean Hillary is his favorite primary candidate.

I won't be contributing to, or voting for, Obama OR Hillary, whether or not Gore runs.
