Will doctors give a man Viagra if he's 83 years old and not perfectly healthy?
Edited on Mon Apr-23-07 09:27 PM by Sparkly
Let's talk about men's reproductive issues. What laws should there be to make sure men are being responsible about their reproduction? I especially think women, who don't need to make such decisions, should weigh in here; and, as politicians, women need to show their concern for the God-given sanctity of sperm through reasonable laws.

After all, men have been so helpful in providing their opinions, their laws, and their judgments about women's reproductive decisions, surely this will help them understand just exactly how grateful we are.

So...

Should men be prescribed Viagra after an age when they won't be around to father children, and when they are more likely to have children with birth defects?

Should they be allowed to have Viagra only if they prove their partners can't become pregnant?

What about a law for a maximum age difference between men and their female partners, to ensure children aren't left fatherless?

(Can anyone understand why a man would wait until he's past 50 to have children? It's so reckless and irresponsible!)

How about men with criminal records -- should they be allowed to impregnate women when they're likely to spend a decade or more in jail?

And men who've committed rape -- allowed to keep their penises, yes or no?

How about foreskin -- some of us don't like foreskin and would definitely want to be circumcised if we were men, while others of us would prefer to be left natural. We need to form some sort of compromise on what we think men should do about this.

And if men can't keep their pants on, they shouldn't be allowed to just shirk the consequences with some sort of "legal rights" about "leaving." They should face the results of their wanton behavior. I'm sure we can come up with an appropriate 9-month-plus-life punishment.

Meanwhile, for the sake of world peace, the antidote to testosterone is long overdue as an additive to the nation's drinking water.

Let's hope a majority of women in Congress get together to debate a sound policy on men's genitals soon.

:sarcasm:

2. How about mandatory vasectomies by age 14?

Then if a man REALLY wants to be a dad he can have it reversed. With the approval of the wife, her parents and a judge, of course. Naturally the reversal procedure would not be covered by insurance.

I'm only being halfway sarcastic, but we don't have an icon for that.

One edit: You neglected to consider the men on welfare. They should at very least be denied Viagra and should probably be chemically castrated until they make enough money to support their children without having to depend on the government and a woman.

Okay, now I'm being :sarcasm:

4. Excellent, MindPilot!
Should all doctors be able to TELL him he can have it reversed? And, should we connect gag rules to overseas funding?

6. What about a ban on "Partial Fertilization Procedures"
in which no egg is even close, and the sperm that could have grown into beautiful children are simply discarded -- flushed or even laundered?!? These are precious potential lives that could have grown up to cure cancer!! I'm so glad my Dad didn't flush ME down the toilet. :scared:

13. Spilled seed is a world-wide holocaust!!!
There needs to be strict federal regulation in this area. No man should be allowed in an adult bookstore without a woman or government official present, and there must be laws preventing the wanton release of semen even in the case of medical necessity.

Jeeez, you're cracking me up here!!

He reads DU every day, but as small as he is, he's never donated since he can't have a credit card cuz his wallet's too small to fit one in there.

By the way, he says to tell you that circumcision matters not a whit. And further, he's 86.

11. Pssssssssssssst, Husb2,

there is a very hush hush support group for innocent but categorized spouses. It was founded by a bunch of us in the 70s, when we were thrown out of the house during NOW meetings. After cleaning the house and making refreshments, of course. Password to follow. Shhhhhhh.

9. Congratulations!
I answered your "genuine question:"

Since you're concerned, perplexed, and inquisitive about women's legal rights to make their own medical decisions, maybe you'll weigh in here, too.

10. And you missed the point. It wasn't about women, it was about doctors.
But you entirely missed the point.

BTW, yes, doctors do regularly give out viagra to unhealthy men. And they die. As to your other questions, they were merely strawmen.

I don't know why people trust the medical community (the one that wants to make lots of money) as much as they do.
