The Utah County republikkan party...What a bunch of whack jobs.
snip

Don Larsen, chairman of legislative District 65 for the Utah County Republican Party, had submitted a resolution warning that Satan's minions want to eliminate national borders and do away with sovereignty.

snip

Republican officials then allowed speakers to defend and refute the resolution. One speaker, who was identified as "Joe," said illegal immigrants were Marxist and under the influence of the devil. Another, who declined to give her name to the Daily Herald, said illegal immigrants should not be allowed because "they are not going to become Republicans and stop flying the flag upside down. ... If they want to be Americans, they should learn to speak English and fly their flag like we do."

snip

When Wright said "the economic benefit (of illegal immigration) outweighs the downside" he was jeered. He warned that the Republican Party of California had "killed themselves" by taking a hostile stance against illegal aliens.

snip

All of the speakers praised those gathered. Lt. Governor Gary Herbert said Utah County Republicans are "guided by correct principles" and are the "best of the best" of the Republican Party.

If I had seen it out of context I probably would have thought that it was from The Onion.
Larsen told those gathered that illegal immigrants "hate American people" and "are determined to destroy this country, and there is nothing they won't do."

"Nothing they won't do" - Including back breaking labor at less than minimum wage with no benefits. Those evil bastards!

At the end of his speech, Larsen began to cry, saying illegal immigrants were trying to bring about the destruction of the U.S. "by self invasion."

What the hell is "self invasion"? Wouldn't that mean invading your own country rather than another? Maybe these particular Republicans should think about learning English themselves first before they go around demanding it of others.

Greene said she was disappointed in BYU professors who protested Dick Cheney's visit to campus, calling them "self-appointed intellectuals."

What the hell is a "self-appointed intellectual", and what does being an intellectual (self-appointed or otherwise) have to do with protesting Cheney?

These people have become parodies of themselves.

4. "After the meeting..."
"Counselors and nurses went around to attendees and made sure they took their evening medications. They then showed a collection of Huckleberry Hound cartoons and most attendees promptly fell asleep."

5. The best part of the story for me was this line...
"this is the best of the best of the republikkan party."

I'm not sure why when reading this story, I was waiting to read, "Howard Johnson is right about Gabby Johnson being right about..."

Blazing Saddles lives on in Utah County.
