3. Conservatism is based on fear.
Fear of change, fear of the future, fear of alternatives, fear of self, fear of others, fear of God. The entire mindset is precipitated on the basic belief that human nature is essentially evil, and must therefore be feared. Anything that deviates from a very narrow range of "acceptable" behavior has to be stamped on with all the force at one's command, lest it prove to be "the thin end of the wedge" that will pitch humanity into chaos.

6. I start my Sig Line with...
"Fear is born of ignorance". Just something I thought up one day, and the more I thought about it, the more true it rang.

If we know something, we don't fear it, we may not like it, but the simple knowledge of an item deters the fear factor. When we are ignorant of something, we feel fear, because it is "unknown". This is why people fear death, they do not know what lays beyond that last breath.

The GOP uses the ignorance of people to ensure that they stay fearful in an attempt to maintain power as the "only ones" that can protect them. Change is a normal state of affairs for any society; sometimes it's quick, sometimes it is a long drawn out process, but change is inevitable. Since many things haven't been tried before, there is an apprehension that the GOP propagandists jump right on to. It has only been 87 years since women gained the right to vote, people were terrified that women were "too emotional" to act maturely...gusess the women showed us guys how dumb we can be...:D

Learn what you can, in any way you can, and truth will set the mind free. It is OK to be scared about somethings, but to live in a constant state of dread is not living at all...O8)

8. I could add a lot to that list but.....
frankly, the Fairness Doctrine isnt exactly fair. Why in the world would I want to listen to 1 minute of Repug propaganda to every minute of Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy??
