I thought I heard A. B. Stoddard of The Hill pick Hillary and Obama...
Edited on Wed May-09-07 06:41 PM by madfloridian
I watched TV for about 5 minutes...I saw Lou Dobbs apparently saying a Catholic priest was doing something evil by helping immigrants. He got that stupid Lou Dobb I am superior and you are no good smirk on his face.

I hurriedly switched to Tucker for a moment only to hear Stoddard say only Hillary and Obama were in the running really, or something close to that....and that "we were losing Edwards."

So now I don't have to worry. The media has set our immigrant policy and picked our candidates.

1. Well
The thing with Edward's campaign is that it has a base of support that has been there since he announced his intentions, but there doesn't seem to be any growth yet...

Edwards would be a super president, and I would vote and campaign for him without hesitation... but I can't help noticing that his campaign doesn't seem to have any appeal beyond his base...

3. Well, then applaud for Stoddard. Surprised you agree it is ok...
for media to pick our candidate.

I always liked Obama. But his campaign seems to appeal to those who want to tear others down.

5. Stop playing the victim
I LIKE EDWARDS. I'M ROOTING FOR HIM AND OBAMA TO BECOME THE FRONTRUNNERS, AND I WILL CAMPAIGN FOR JOHN IF HE WINS THE NOMINATION.

Now, it is a FACT that he has been stuck in the 3rd place (a somewhat distant 3rd place) since the beginning of the campaing. I'm sorry if you think saying that is an attack, but it is as truthful as saying that Obama still has a lot to do in order to take over Hillary.

6. What is wrong with you lately?
You used to sound pretty sensible.

I am surprised you think that media talking heads saying things like that are ok.

11. Of course it's OK
that's exactly what they're hired to do.

He's not presenting the news - he's there to give his opinions on politics, and he did so.

2. Lou was reacting to this:
he sounds like such a bigot to me, as do most of the yahoos like him.

Bite this, Lou Dobbs.

Congregations to Give Haven to Immigrants

By JAMES BARRON
Published: May 9, 2007

Recalling a movement that challenged United States policy in Central America in the 1980s, several religious congregations in New York and other cities will announce a campaign Wednesday to provide sanctuary to illegal immigrants who face deportation.

As of Tuesday, the organizers of what is being called the New Sanctuary Movement said that five churches in New York City had already offered assistance to two families — one from China and one from Haiti — and would provide them with shelter if the federal government moved to enforce the deportation orders filed against them.

“We’re launching now because we’re fed up with detentions, deportations and raids,” said the Rev. Dr. Donna Schaper, the senior minister of Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village. “We felt it was not morally possible to remain silent.”

Dr. Schaper and a half-dozen other religious leaders are scheduled to gather this morning at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle, a Roman Catholic parish at 405 West 59th Street, near Columbus Avenue, to announce their participation in the campaign.

Other announcements about the New Sanctuary Movement are scheduled in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle, and the organizers said that prayer vigils supporting the effort would be held in other cities.

8. Thanks, I never thought they would go this far with it. So awful.
It is like they have had the media in place building trust, then they are there to spread the propaganda and go after the next scapegoat.

There have been 3 scapegoat groups already, and I wonder who is next.

4. They are trying to influence the primaries on both sides. they have picked our nominees.
the idiots see this presidential election as a world series. They call it the subway series. They are trying to tell us our candidate is Hillary and the gop is Guillianni.

9. "The Media has set our immigrant polic and picked our
Candidates."

I happened to watch both items you mention.
Yes, Stoddard did say "We are losing Edwards"--I almost dropped
my coke. I thought to myself--What terrible thing did Edwards
do? Nothing was discussed except to state Hilary is ahead by
10 points in 3 polls, Rasmussen, Gallop, and I believe USA T
today. They did have Wolfson(Hilary's Camp. Mgr) and glowing
comments were made both ways.

There appears to be a move by the Media to marginalize Edwards.
It is too orchestrated. Every channel has something negative.
Only Stoddard however went out on a limb and predicted his demise.

OH yes I saw this crazy crawl at MSNBC. "Edwards has too expensive
tastes" to advocate for Poverty. This sends me straight out
of my mind. Folks if you never remember anything I say, Remember
this. The Media have a hidden agenda especially at MSNBC. Poverty
and poor people are not to be brought up in Campaigns. Republicans
have a problem with this. Some in our own party have a problem
with this. It makes Business unhappy. If we help the poor we
may just cut into Corporate Welfare. Here is an example. For
one day Obama was a hero because as Fox New reported it--Obama
gave the black community a dose of tough love. I am sure Obama
did not tell the black community to pull themselves up by their
own bootstraps. The Media types and Republicans think the only
poor people in the US are black.

Anyway just remember there is a hidden agenda. No matter who
the candidate is, Poverty is a four letter word.

I am not defending anyone. At this point I do not support anyone.
I am a Liberal, who believes it is the job of Democrats to make
Capitalism palatble and fair for the greater society. It will
require a lot to do this. I am watching and learning about our
candidates. I do not like to see the Media determine who is to
be our candidates. They did not like Gore, Gore said poverty.
The Media found all these insignifcant little issues and blew
them way out of proportion. He got the Most Votes inspite
of their efforts.

At the moment they Edwards in their crosshairs. It is too orchestrated
and obvious. They do not understand subtle. They may decide to go
after someone else later.

Thanks for listening.

10. And thanks for your post.
I had not watched TV all day except local news. Stretched on the sofa before cooking dinner, switched channels and got Dobbs' smirk and Tuckers' guest.

It was said so casually and like "so what" we all know who it will be.

I had really not decided to go with anyone just yet, but I felt like we needed to start doing something.

The reason we went with him is not just because we like him. I have said here often that most of my family are staunch Republican. They are gradually coming around about Bush and the war.

But the most noticeable thing is our two Republicans sons...they like Edwards. They liked him in 04, though one would still have voted Republican. Another family member likes him as well. He called me from NC the other day to ask some questions about him.

Our media is gearing up for big Republican things. They are putting people on air again who should not be there because of their hate talk. They often blatantly push WH talking points, and it has been worse since the election.
