Bush lauds Kan. town's spirit of resilience
At the BTI John Deere dealership, the president met with brothers Kelly and Mike Estes. The tornado destroyed their business, causing $23 million to $25 million in damage, Kelly Estes said. Tractors, cotton strippers and 36,000-pound combines were upended.

"He basically said whatever resources we need will be available," Mike Estes said. Kelly Estes said the president's words were welcome: "He knows it's a disaster beyond proportion."

Do they think the US Government is going to give them $25 million free and clear?

2. Yeah whatever ya need, that's what I told the folks in the 9th Ward
in New Orleans, I'm the whateverer. You can trust me. And don't forget those old fashioned, traditional conservative values. Ya'll got bootstraps, start pulling.

3. Bush is a "disaster beyond proportion."
And if Estes really believes that whatever resources will be made available, he should check out the Gulf Coast. And half the resources they need are rolling around Iraq.

Oh, Mike. You didn't believe him, did you? Go ask the people of New Orleans what a George Bush promise is worth.

5. Remember that Kansas is a Republican heartland, whereas NOLA was largely Democratic
I suspect that the Republicans really will go to considerable lengths to help in the aftermath of this tragedy.

6. Short-Term Memory George?
I'll bet thirty seconds after he was seated on the heliocopter, GWB forgot everything he saw and everything he said. One sip of the magical waters of Lethe works wonders and everyone in his administration keeps a big ol'bottle handy. Those poor people in Greensburg are going to have a long wait before they see anything George promised.
