Immigration Bill Will Not Work

Does anyone think Bush and the Congress came together to purposely make a bill that will not work? I just do not think this bill will work. I contend very few people, if any, will pay the $5,000 fine and very few will go back to the country they came from. So, I do not see how this bill will work. In my opinion, Bush and the Congress just put a bill together so they could say they worked out a bill. In addition, this might be to help the companies that hire illegal immigrants so that these companies will continue to have illegal maybe low paid workers.

8. SO, you think that any effort by Congress to do any legislation is part of a coverup?

I actually think that Congress can - I expect them to - walk and chew gum at the same time. I also want them to address all manner of issues of importance - not just focus on going after Bush and his minions. We sent them there to solve problems, not to only do one thing.

Any undocumented person will be able to step forward and pick up the "temporary" z-visa... and presto, no more illegal anything, they go back to work, never have to go anywhere and have zero incentive to further any process ...
We will revisit the topic in another 10 years when the next 20-30 million show up but until then , no problemo ...

This means all previous illegal hiring by employers is suddenly legal as well. No more raids. No more disincentive to hiring illegal (now legal) immigrants instead of Americans. Just hire the cheapest, most exploitable workers. Forget the law. We just got rid of it with the new Comprehensive Amnesty bill.

4. I wrote Salazar and Kennedy

and asked them why they couldn't just use the laws already in the books? I agree it's another immigration deal that will go no where. I am not against immigration but I am very much against uncontrolled illegal immigration. I suggested to Kennedy that he ought to visit Texas for a spell and ask the legal citizens here what the problems are. How much is this little "dream" bill going to cost us?

I wrote Kennedy also. Bet my letter gets a whole lot more attention than yours, huh.
He is always so responsive to his constituents.
Wish he'd get his a** out of Camelot and get out here on the streets to see what life is really like. Then maybe his priorities would shift. I view him as a well intentioned fool and we are stuck with him till death.

the standard I'll get back to you e-mail followed up by another reinforcing his view. Hey, all the senators and representatives make decisions that effect us all, so I feel I can talk to him even though I don't vote for him. I admire that Kennedy will take out of state e-mails....many do not.

edit: These senators and congressmen need to spend time in border states even though there are immigration problems nationwide....they need to see the border states. Houston is now over 50% Hispanic and from all the Spanish everywhere I would say many are illegal.

7. At least it sounds the end of "family reunification" and

the beginning of a rational system of immigration. It may help meet our needs for both skilled and unskilled labor. Hey, it works in Canada and other civilized countries, why not for us?

10. They don't need to go back to their country to work,

only to obtain citizenship. Those currently here illegally will be given immediate amnesty through the new Z-visa. This will instantaneously make them "legal" workers, as well as making their previously illegal hiring by employers legal.

In one fell swoop, both illegal employers and illegal workers will be amnestisized.

But that's not all. Employers can also hire any of the new 400,000 guest workers, just in case the newly legalized 12 million (previously illegal) workers aren't enough.
