Hillary's classroom photo-op
Hillary interrupts classroom instruction to use children in a classroom as a backdrop for her interview with Matt Lauer. It would be one thing if she had been there to talk to the kids, or even READ to the kids, but clearly that is not what is happening here. As a classroom teacher this really irritates me. The video is at the bottom of his link.

3. How do you know that she wasn't there to talk or read to the kids?
Edited on Tue May-22-07 05:52 AM by Skinner
Presidential candidates are very busy -- they have lots of events every day. Perhaps she was at the school because she was doing an event there that the campaign already had planned, and she agreed to the Today show interview right around the same time.

4. BECAUSE...as a teacher myself...
I realize the 'interview' could have been done outside of a classroom so that instruction wasn't interrupted. Maybe she did read or talk to the kids and she could have videoed that part. But using the kids as a backdrop for her interview with Matt Lauer is just WRONG! Take the cameras outside and let the teacher get back to work!!!!

5. OK. How do you know that that was taken in a classroom?
It looks like the library to me. And as I mentioned above, it was 7:10 AM. So, it is likely that the interview did not interrupt any classroom instruction.

And, I think the Clinton campaign is smart enough to not interrupt a teacher unless that teacher agrees ahead of time that he or she wants to be interrupted. The last thing they need is some disgruntled teacher going to the press to complain about how Hillary hates teachers.

6. You do not consider a library a classroom?
or the Media Specialist an educational instructor? Media Specialists across the country might disagree.

17. Sorry sister teacher, as a teacher who has been in many schools,
I can tell you that I have never been in a school which had started its instruction time at 7:10 a.m.

In fact, most of those schools would barely even have opened the doors for early arriving students.

The elementary schools around here generally don't allow any students in the building until 7:15 a.m. and middle schools 7:45 a.m. High schools vary the time allowed in depending on their design. Some allow students in at 8:00, some at 8:20, and some at 8:30.

The earliest instructional start time I've seen was 7:35.

15. I see your point, but she may have talked with the kids before the interview
With her background in the past, I would assume that she in fact did meet and greet with the kids if only because it would have been reported by someone there that she merely just walked in with Secret Service and then was whisked away.

What was interesting about the whole spin was that what her husband said earlier had Obama react to that comment and Senator Clinton wanted to gloss over the votes and play the Unity Card.

I would imagine most people who watched the portion of the show were just looking at her hair, her dress color and whether she looked tired or not. The Matt Lauer audience is more involved in the latest brownie recipes or Paris Hilton than what really has been happening in the Occupation.

backers. :)

The true test will be, if the right makes an issue of this, will the Today show repeat it as they have every other story whipped up for the masses.

26. One thing I liked about the interview was...
that Matt Lauer was trying to stoke the fires on this so called duel that the media has portrayed Hillary and Obama as having, they are working on Edwards also but for now they working on the pretty boy who is rich angle. They will pit one against the other the higher one or the others get in the polls and as we get closer to the elections. The thing I liked about Hillary is that she answered by saying that Dems agree with each other on a lot of the issues.
