Who Followed Who in the Senate Vote?
I smell a weeee bit of collaberation on the part of the Obama and Clinton camps. This is not backed by any evidence...just a hunch. We know how close they are (if we take them for their word), and I thought it was VEEERY convienent that Clinton all of a sudden shows up to vote NO after Obama did. I'm happy for both of them though...but there was never an argument that this wouldn't pass. So the idea that they were waiting for it to be SAFE is BS...I'm sorry. I guess it was a Catch 22 for some people.

1. IMO, they are both gutless wonders. I'm 100% for Edwards for the duration unless Gore runs. n/t

4. So you would rather support a co-sponsor of the original IWR than one who opposed the
"dumb war" from the beginning and is now actually trying to enact policy to get us the fuck out? Brilliant.

7. Yes because Edwards has the grace and humbleness to admit when he's made a mistake. n/t

6. heh.
Edwards actively supported the invasion, and openly bashed Dean, Kerry, and all of us anti-war folk up until the polls in 04 showed he couldn't win the nomination and be pro-war. Without blinking, he switched.

Gutless wonder. Without the wonder.

19. you're for Mr. "I led the charge to go into this war????"
and against a guy who not only spoke out against the war when it was more popular than baseball and apple pie, but also voted against this bill???

Edwards is stirring up all this crap to make you forget how he screwed up in approving this war.

Do you realize that without Edwards' vote and actions, this funding situation would never have even come up.

21. When Edwards actually had to cast votes in the Senate, how did he vote?

3. give me a break. First, Obama always, always votes at the end. do you ever
watch the senate? I do and he always votes at the end.
Second: It's not like no one knew what the outcome would be so, whether they went first or last it is of little difference.
third: If anything, Obama may have lingered to force clinton to go first or to pressure her.

5. Hillary is toying with Obama..
she's playing political chess with him.. teaching him slowly the ways of political strategy. He should be grateful.

8. HRC is so caught up in orchestrating her stances she seemingly can't
grab her butt with both hands. Everything HRC does is so contrived that listening to all the handlers will, IMO, bring about her undoing.

12. Nah, you're thinking too hard about motivation
you have to consider Hillary knew how she was going to vote before she even went into the Senate chamber...
She was playing with Obama, drawing him out.. OTOH..Obam's the one with the handlers. He's being pulled in more directions than one by his team because they all have different agendas. Obama didn't find them. They found him.

Go with the flow, SF. And stop worrying so much.. We can only do what we can do for the day.

11. Who cares who waited for who - I want to know why neither would LEAD on it
or even discuss their position in order to convince other lawmakers, media or the public that their position was important to them.

In 2006, Hillary spoke adamantly against a withdrawal timetable on the senate floor before she voted against Kerry-Feingold.

The LEAST she could do after that show of force last June was speak today on the senate floor to support her own evolution on withdrawal.

14. Obama has been a leader on many things...
He just chose not to on this one. And for what? It's not like the bill was going to be close to begin with.

She asked why Obama and Hillary didn't lead on the vote, and I asked how she knows they didn't...
