Novak: I paid most of my $150K Plame case legal fees myself

Robert Novak says he wishes the "whole incident" concerning the publication of Valerie Plame's name never happened. "I didn't feel I gave up anybody," says Novak, referring to his grand jury testimony about his sources. He also tells the Rhode Island Society of Financial Service Professionals: "I paid most of my legal fees, myself. The advice to me was if I went all the way to the Supreme Court, I�d probably go to jail and for what -- I'd probably lose the case and hurt press freedoms."

Boo hoo boo, Bob. What'd that cost you, the honoraria from two or three speaking engagements where you give the same canned speech and pick up a hefty check? Bummer, dude. Did you miss any meals? Did you have trouble making a mortgage or rent payment? Did you have to stretch your food budget? Did you have to forego buying this year's edition of "Who's Who"?

For some reason, the word "bullshit" keeps springing to mind, and visions of you ripping off your mike and stalking off a set. I don't know why.
