I take a lot of pride in being a native-born Washingtonian, although when my mother became ill my father moved the family back to Knoxville where I was raised the first few years of my life. Eventually, the family moved back here, but I spent my summers back in Tennessee, much like Al Gore did. I like to explain this because I chronically refer here to my Tennessee roots.
DC is a unique place. Its politics are difficult for those outside this region to comprehend. That's why I have started lately explaining the inside the beltway culture, for the benefit of those DU'ers not physically located close to the political capital of the world but who are hooked on politics. Likewise, one from Kansas could comfortably say people who live in DC absolutely do not understand its politics. That's why all need to talk.
I am in no way a right-leaning poster here so I take no offense at your comment. I also have not spoken the word "President" aloud for the last seven years ....
I just wanted to add my two cents since you referenced the inside the Beltway culture, something I habitually attempt to explain here.
Regards,
Sam
