Bush at Arlington National Cemetery: "This is our country's calling, it's our country's destiny."
Bush: Iraqi, Afghan Wars "Our Destiny"
Says Outcome Of Wars Must Honor Sacrifice Of Fallen By Overcoming "Tyrants And Terrorists"
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 28, 2007
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/28/national/main2858868.shtml

<<snip>>

As people across the U.S. marked the day of remembrance, violence continued in Iraq where a suicide car bomber struck a busy commercial district in central Baghdad, killing at least 21 people and damaging a shrine revered by Sunnis and Shiites alike.

<<snip>>

"The greatest memorial to our fallen troops cannot be found in the words we say or the places we gather," he added. "The more lasting tribute is all around us."

<<snip>>

Troops with rifles fitted with bayonets stood at attention as his motorcade drove through rows of white tombstones, each marked with a tiny American flag. Smoke from cannon fire rose over the cemetery.

<<snip>>

"Those who serve are not fatalists or cynics," he added. "They know that one day this war will end, as all wars do. Our duty is to make sure this war was worth the sacrifice" and that the fighting men and women succeeded — and "where tyrants and terrorists are frustrated and foiled ... where our nation is more secure from attack."

"This is our country's calling," Mr. Bush said. "It's our country's destiny."

2. No, Bush--"This" is your marketing strategy.
It is NOT Amercia's "calling" and "destiny" to function as hired muscle for your big-buck lobby and defense contractor friends!!! THAT'S why you like war and want to make it as permanent as your tax cuts!

4. Yes, permanent...
"They know that one day this war will end, as all wars do." What a line of crap. He, himself said that this is a new type of war where we will not know when its over.

3. * is the most accurate of prognosticators this culture
has ever seen.

Look at his record. /sarcasm

Oh yeah I trust him totally on the destiny thingy, as he drags us into the abyss of being the very last imperial super power in the world.

"Thanks honey hope it was good for you and your cronies."

7. The Chimperor Doesn't Deserve to Lay That Wreath
Edited on Tue May-29-07 02:15 PM by AnnieBW
The sight of the Chimperor laying the wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns, with full military honors, made me want to :puke: Remember back in the '90's, when Clinton was there and people actually turned their backs on him? Why the heck aren't people doing that now? I mean, Clinton was no friend of the military, but a lot fewer of them died on his watch - and only in Somalia, which was Bush the Elder's lovely parting gift to Big Dawg.
